SO i just registered for this event, but was curious if anyone knows if the weigh ins are with the gi on or not?

If so..if I'm at 216-217 now..how much should I drop before weigh in?

Their website isn't that clear, but the weight class is 195 to 219.9. It doesn't say anything about weighing in in a gi, but since the gi and no-gi weight classes are the same, I would guess you wouldn't have to wear the gi during weigh in. I would send them an e-mail to clarify.

I've competed in the last two atama opens and several other tournaments they run, and you have nothing to worry about, they don't make you weigh in with the gi on.

awesome... Yeah the site isnt very clear at all, I did the Texas Open in Austin a mth ago and didnt have to wear the gi to weigh in, but for some reason thought this would be different.

That sucks dude. I wanted to do last yrs, but it was crazy because i just started my job and became a father at the same time! I vowed to myself I would start competing at big events like this, especially if its in town.

Anybody know anything about how theyll run the absoulte? At the Texas Open, they did both gi and no gi absoultes at the end of all the other matches, and only allowed purples n up to do the gi (which I couldnt do) and intermediates and u to to the no gi. Will it be like that here? I didnt see anything about those divisons listed.

Seth charges a spectator fee, but he runs a tight ship- his tournaments are great.
