2008 Pan-Am Results??

It sounds like Sherdog grapplers did better last year ... nobody's posting with medalage.

Congrats man...well deserved. Wish I could made it out but I got busy. Super heavy? I don't remember you being that big :icon_chee

I didn't want to cut at all. I wound up weighing 211 with the gi. 221 was the max. I could have easily cut to heavy.

Cash Bill -- did you compete somewhere around 12:30 or so Saturday afternoon? If so, I believe I got a nice pic of you tapping your opponent with an armbar from guard I believe, and your entire body is off the ground, nearly vertical, and only the top of your head is touching the mat.

Really?? Wow! That was probably me. My friend says he has a shot of that too but I haven't seen it yet. Could you please post it here? Thank you so much.

I remember getting a little air between my head and the mat before that tap.

dude, one thing is for sure, Raphael Lovato was not ducking Roger, its all about respect for his team mate Xande and them not wanting to compete against each other, plus if you knew Lovato on a personal level you'd know he lives and has a drive to only fight the best people around, its what gets him going. im so stoked for his win, the dude is an awesome guy, a great teacher and an animal of a competitor.

stole this off OTM

2008 Pan-American Black Belt Finals Matches

Super-Featherweight:

Carlos "Esquisito" Holanda (Gracie Barra) vs. Samuel Braga (Gracie Barra)

-Gracie Barra teammates Carlos "Esquisito" Holanda and Samuel Braga opted not to fight in the final and determined who would take gold with a good old-fashioned game of "rock, paper, scissors". Esquisito is declared the winner.

Champion: Carlos "Esquisito" Holanda (Gracie Barra)

Featherweight:

Rubens "Cobrinha" Charles (Alliance) vs. Bruno Frazzato (Brasa)

-There was a change in relation to the featherweight category. Bruno Frazzato, not the Japanese grappler Yukinori Sasa as indicated earlier, would face Rubens "Cobrinha" Charles in the finals. The match lasted the entire ten minutes, which was a high-octane battle between representatives of two rival schools in Alliance and Brasa. In the end, the score was 2-2 with the win going to Cobrinha for having accumulated two more advantage points than Frazzato.

Champion: Rubens "Cobrinha" Charles (Alliance)

Lightweight:

Celso "Celsinho" Vinicius (Ryan Gracie) vs. Lucas Lepri (Alliance)

-In the lightweight final, Celsinho Venicius, who was representing the recently deceased Ryan Gracie, executed two successful sweeps to earn him the 4 points to defeat Lucas Lepri. Lepri had managed only one takedown, which made the final score 4-2 in favor of Celsinho.

Champion: Celso "Celsinho" Vinicius (Ryan Gracie)

Middleweight:

Guto Campos (Rickson Gracie) vs. Ot

Thanks johll d'o. My friend's pic is not that good. Now everyone has to use the scroll bar to read this page. lol

I've deleted my "big" pic since it was requiring the scroll. The thumbnail still does the trick!

That's cool. You can just click on it and it goes to the perfect size. I really appreciate it. I think he tapped a second later.

Nice job Bill! Congrats!

Thanks. It was a lot of fun. It was my first tourney in 3 years. I got lucky that johl 'do took that picture. My grandma was like, " Did he bounce you on your head?" I said, "No Grandma. I won that fight..." People at work who have no idea what I do were like, "Hmmmm...Interesting..."
