Do people think MMA is more exciting now, or was it 10 years ago?

And where to people see the sport going with WME-IMG holding the reigns, life after Zuffa?

It's a little less exciting to me now-a-days, but I think that has a lot to do with 'seeing it all.

No idea, but I'm hoping they drop Reebok and give the fighters more guaranteed money...

Zuffa was never short of personality. the only thing i see different about WME so far is the posters..

I'm willing to give them time. They haven't even owned the company for a year ...

I find it less exciting because there are more events now and I feel compelled to see everything.

You used to get an event every month or every month and a half, now there is one every week. I don't know, the cards feel a little less special than they used too. I think the sport itself will forever be exciting, though.

Advertising certainly got better. Those old posters were shit.

Life gets less exciting as you grow older. People actually remembering MMA from 10 years ago, and being there then, fall into that trap.

1) MMA was exciting 10y ago.Now its BS.Lots of primadonas.5, 10 guys get all the gold and the other the peanuts
2) About the future.Worst case scenario: UFC becomes the next WWE,with "fighters" like CM Punk
Best case scenario.Stay bs as it is but more stylish in production like Rizin
3) Who is that fooker that oils up PVZ? I wanna kill him!!!

Yeah i quite like the new ones, but i cant work out if the style will get old or not. The PRIDE ones are timeless. Also i still miss the individual shorts. that samey shite is obnoxious.

Depending on what's going on in my life, or just overload, my enjoyment of MMA waxes and wanes.
It is an exciting time for me now, who knows about next year.
It was great 10 years ago, and it is still great.
Hard to compare because it's an evolution.

I find it way less exciting now

The UFC in last few years has degraded it, especially the Conor type stuff

I loved it more 12 years ago but some of that is just because it was so new and I was seeing everything for the first time. I still love it. It's prize fighting, it has surges of popularity based on the biggest stars. Right now it lacks some legitimacy but it lacked some back then too lol it has its biggest stars ever right now. Not necessarily the most talented but certainly the biggest.

I was more emotionally invested in fighters and fights back then, but I don't know if it's really more or less exciting to be honest. There are still exciting fighters out there and some get me emotionally invested like Overeem. In general though, I guess the novelty of MMA has worn off for me and I'd quite honestly say that I'm becoming more of a casual fan than a "hardcore" one.

I believe it is less exciting. This can be contributed to many things. I believe the Pride vs UFC push was something hard core fans liked. I believe you only had hard core fans during this time period. Now there are a lot of casual fans. Also, with fewer fighters back then. People knew every fighter. Since more fighters are being introduced. Half of the card are people you have not heard of. Also, with the Connor error of WWE type hype. I believe your hard core fans are less impressed. We have also witnessed a progression in skill. Things that ended fights 10 years ago do not work in todays MMA.

To me it was way more exciting then however there are some amazing fights still being put on

There was a lot less ducking back then, that's for sure. Well, unless you were Tito ducking Chuck.

... We have also witnessed a progression in skill. Things that ended fights 10 years ago do not work in todays MMA.
The wellroundedness of today's fighters is unfortunately making it seem like skills are more generic today. It's not quite true though, we still have experts in respective martial art aspect of fighting, but I've admittedly fallen in this way of thinking - fighters seem more generic today (for good reason).

As the years go on, fighters become more and more diverse in their fighting portfolio. So we see less art vs art wins and more grinding it out gameplan type wins than before. Not that there werent bad fights back then, its just you see less of the wow moments.

The amount of events now also take away from the excitement factor....but its what we wanted<cheer>
