60 Minutes did a story about Chinese spies at American universities two weeks ago.

The crux of the story was that many international students are being spied upon so that they don't become "Americanized".

A few years ago, there was a block party BBQ in our neighborhood. Our town is a college town. One woman I talked with is from China and worked at the university. When I asked what she did, she said she worked in the patent office of the university. In fact, she straight up told me how it's the college of agriculture that produces the most patents each year.

With all the recent talk of China possibly invading Taiwan in the near future, and how that could get the US involved against China militarily, rather scary. Sounds like that could cause mass starvation in the US.

I have a friend who used to work in food security. He would work with government security agencies such as the FBI. He would write SOP on how to handle such and such situation in case of food contamination, poisoning, etc. I don't recall him ever mentioning a deadly crop fungus infection from China but hopefully there is a SOP on that too.
