1917 was great but still room for a gritty WW1 movie

Something about 1917 was a little too clean. Was hoping to see more of the kind of toxic muddy wasteland kind of warfare with, frankly, a lot more carnage. What do you guys think about that? Anyone know of any other WW1 movies in the works? Probably cliche but Speilberg or Gibson could probably do a good one. Or even someone like PTA.

Yeah I was excited for 1917 and it was a great movie but it was just one long tracking shot of some dude running through NML. They should have done a The Greatest Hour type film on it showed the cause followed a few leaders then followed one of the famous people that took part in ww1 and showed the big battles.

It's not a great movie overall and has supernatural elements, but Deathwatch is worth watching if you want to see ww1 battlfields depicted as muddy hell. Definitely one of the grimiest ww1 films out there.

Forget 1917, its sequel 1918 would be huge for the Corona era.

Yeah I dont really have a good WW1 movie to go to (havent seen 1917 though). I used to be obsessed with reading about that war though. To me it's the worst war to be a soldier in, conditions were rough. WW2 your more likely to die but man WW1 was crazy.

They could make a slew of movies about WWI. If you've never listened to Dan Carlin's Blueprint for Armageddon you really need to.

Is it a podcast or something?

I think a german Homefront movie mixed with western front battle scenese could be gritty and cool.

Plus, Hollywood would love to show us some starving germans

WW1 is very hard to follow politically thats why there are no films about it,

and yeah it was a lot more brutal than ww2

you literally went from charging enemy positions on horses to tanks in a few years

Give me a good director and a remake or new adaptation of "All Quiet on the Western Front".

Yeah I agree, it was a great film but I think there is still some room for improvement. WWI was just absolutely nuts. Try and listen to this video for the full five minutes.
