Conor won't fight at another weight until he gets his crack at RDA, and part of me thinks the UFC would hold any 145 title fight or belt release until Conor has a go at 170...of course all this depends if he beats RDA when they do meet.

What do you's think the best route is for the featherweight division?

What happens if he lose this bout in UFC 196, Will UFC allow him to face RDA?

That's where I think UFC need to pick the bout wisely.

I wrote this on another site...

Few other names like Pettis thrown around, but think worth remembering the winner of McG v replacement will more than likely get the shot when RDA is fit. Can't see McG getting title fight at 155 if he was to lose to the replacement. Don't feel Pettis or Cerrone warrant a potential shot on recent times (Cerrone the infamous "choker" and Pettis two losses on bounce).

Shame Khabib v Ferguson is booked for April, both of them defo worth a shout for replacement.

With a broken foot so you nuthuggers can then continue with the nuthugging when he loses due to previous injury?

Anything to make a buck. If Aldo were still champ, he'd still sell only 250,000 tops. I hope they call Robbie.

Let's wait and see what happens at UFC 196. If Conor doesn't defend his featherweight title at UFC 200, then they probably should be making an interim featherweight title anyway.

Unfortunately this rules out the WW title for Conor. And I don't think Conor beats Wonderboy, who will probably be champ by the end of the year.

I was thinking about this as well and the risk the UFC would take by having Conor fight someone else at 155. But then again, if he fights and defends his title at 145 on short notice and loses then the LW fight wont make sense either. So either way the UFC is potentially losing the big champ vs champ fight.

Only safe thing for the UFC to do if they want to keep if 100%

    1. Postpone the RDA fight
    2. Have Conor fight at WW

Yeah, everybody was so focused on the guy holding two belts getting injured, but if his opponent gets injured, that also holds up one of the belts. I think it would be cool to have a two-division champ in theory, but in practice it's proving untenable.

Even if Conor ends up doing a 145 title fight beyond UFC 200 and into late-2016, I believe that division can hold out until then. Aldo has held up the division for much longer periods before. It'll be fine, Frankie and Holloway are the only 2 clear-cut contenders of that division anyways.
