I know all the post and threads about Cauliflower ear, yet I cant find nothing about this question? when your ear puffs out and it hardens can it puff up again ??? or is that it?
thanks : )

Hard to explain over the internet.

The part that hardens, stays hardened. At least in my experience.

Its possible that the 'area' will swell again, sure.

But the part that has solidified, will stay that way. At least, thats what ive seen.

yes, it can puff up even more. what the other guy is trying to say that once it hardens, it won't regress towards normal beyond that point, but it can still get worse.

once it hardens it has healed and won't puff up again unless you hurt it again... unfortunately once it hardens you ear will be much thicker which will increase the chance of you getting it again in the same ear. It took me about two years of training before I got it and I let some of it harden before I drained it. Now I am dealing with it every 4 to 6 months.

"Cauliflower ear" or auricular hematoma occurs when the layers of cartilage in the ear separate, usually due to trauma. Blood fills the space. Treatment is usually to drain it, then use whatever techniques to apply pressure on the ear so that the blood doesn't fill up the space again (i.e. silly puddy, ice compression, sutures). If the ear isn't properly drained, the blood coagulates and hardens. The space with the blood clot can still separate further - resulting in the ear "puffing up again."
