I started practicing boxing and I wear 12oz gloves.

With and Without hand wraps, i feel like the gloves are too small and I cannot clinch my fist properly.

when i was hitting the bang yesterday i could feel slight discomfort in my right ring finger.
I believe this is due to the gloves being a little bit small.

am I correct? or perhaps i am not punching correctly? should i get 14oz or 16oz gloves?

im about 158lbs 5'10-5'11

Could be both.

I recommend 16oz gloves though...

16oz gloves.

You can hit the pads, bag and spar with them. I presonally wouldnt spar someone wearing 12oz gloves, and besides MOST gyms dont allow you to spar in anything under 14oz as a strict guideline anyway.

Typically the hand comparment is small in the lighter gloves. If you can't make a fist and you are still hitting the bag, this definately could lead to an injury. I would go with 16 oz gloves and start wrapping your hands.

ALWAYS WRAP YOUR HANDS!!!!!

That being said, depending on your physical size get at least 14 oz gloves (if you are under 140 lbs or so) and preferably 16 oz or even 18 oz gloves (if you are a heavyweight).

At my gym 16 oz gloves are a requirement for sparring.

ALWAYS WRAP YOUR HANDS!!!!!

just in case you missed it. i've actually been using 24's the past few months myself, you definitely need something heavier than 12's.
