gotta love the French attitude to sex as part of culture and not prudes like most of the rest of the world.

A collective of 100 prominent French women including famed actress Catherine Deneuve have denounced the "puritanism" that followed in the wake of allegations against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, declaring that men should be "free to hit on" women.
The letter in Le Monde signed by around 100 French women writers, performers and academics deplored the wave of "denunciations" that has followed claims that producer Weinstein raped and sexually assaulted women over decades.

They claimed that the "witch-hunt" that has followed threatens sexual freedom.

"Rape is a crime but insistent or clumsy flirting is not, nor is gallantry a macho aggression," said the letter signed by women including Catherine Millet, author of the explicit 2002 memoir 'The Sexual Life of Catherine M' and French actress Catherine Robbe-Grillet.

She is safe because no one wants to harass her because the only thing holding her together is wrinkles and mold infections.

well she's right in calling this out .. they're trying to neuter guys in a sense .. my brother, who's one of the biggest flirts, womanizers etc even uttered some shit about this the other day 'it's going to become a crime to compliment a woman' .. never thought I'd hear him, of all people, voice that .. they're trying to plant seeds in mens' minds .. luckily most men aren't listening to that shit .. yet anyways

Killing sex and romance is bad.. If men have zero sexual prowess, it's all gone.

That said, bosses assuming women have to fuck around with them, AND women very often going along with it, is gross and can stop.

Right on both counts.

The thing with all those #metoo stories from Hollywood actresses is that they were willing to put out as long as they got roles in movies. Weinstein has been doing the same shit for years, and suddenly they all came forwards. You can't claim to be a victim if you are complicit in the scheme.

Well, the hypocrisy even shows up in how many pictures there are of Oprah schmoozing with him. She's surely not that dumb that she didn't know his character. And then, a year or two later after all of those photos she and anyone else like her is clear of all negative association. Only he is the bad guy. There's this sketchy chasm that was quickly and easily crossed between big Hollywood player and embodiment of evil. And I'm not excusing Weinstein in any way.

More or less, this.

It's the presence of power differentials and quid pro quo that poisons the well, not the presence of sexuality in itself.

This should be common sense.

100 women isn't a lot lmao

Even while I've agreed that some of the hashtag metoo stuff is really petty, it doesn't negate the fact that a significant portion of these women aren't crying that men hit on them. They're outing men who used positions of power to leverage sex out of women. They're outing rapists. They're outing harassers. And that's a good thing.

Those things aren't sexy. Women like some guys, and sexual encounters need to be initiated.. You don't just pull it out, right away, but moves need to be made.
