I saw the 100 Burpee challenge on this forum the other day so i decided to give it a go. As the name suggests you do a hundred burpee's jumping as high as you can on each one and time yourself. Ive tried it once so far and my time was 4min20s for the full 100. Hopefully this will improve and now ive got a time to aim for i now feel i will be able to push myself better. Do this and post your time should be good and an added incentive to train harder and get fitter!
im comin off the flu but i will try this maybe sunday or monday and post results....btw way how are you doing your burpees? I see almost everyone does them a little different but the little difference can make a huge difference as far as difficulty. Stand squat down hands flat on ground outside your feet kick both feet back and land in the BOTTOM push up position. Lotta people land in top position and do 1 pushup Push up while at the same time kicking feet back up so you land in squat position explode up into the air as a squat jump when you land you immediately land into bottom squat position and go again.
Nice! See thats exactly what im talkin bout! Another slight variation that will make a big difference as far as pain once you start approaching the 100 mark.
4min 20secs is a good time. Best I've done it in was 6min 45secs. I like throwing on a 45lb weight vest which really ups the intencity.
Yeah I was thinking that 4 min 20 sounded really good to.. havent done them myself yet, I will try it next week..
Holy crapola. 100? Tell you guys what. Because I'm in such a generous mood, I'll make a reward here. The Sherdogger who can do 100 burpees in the shortest amount of time will receive, from me, personally, $4.00 in real Wendy's Bucks (yes, Wendy's has a currency system), a personalized Sherdog certificate of award (with permission from Jeff), and a coupon for a free bucket of popcorn at any National Amusements Theater. The terms: -You need to show yourself doing 100 burpees on video. Urban, help me agree on the type of burpee. Are we talking about burpees with a pushup? I think burpees with a pushup should suffice. -At the beginning of the video, you need to either state your Sherdog username, or hold up a sign that says so, to prove that it's actually you. -The deadline will be January 31st, 2006. That should give you psychos plenty of time to train. On February 1st, I'll go over the videos, and the person who does the burpees in the shortest amount of time wins. -I give you food rewards because, what better way to celebrate 100 burpees than a meal at Wendy's? Both will make you feel like you swallowed a bowling ball and are about to pass it through your bowels. (Moreso Wendy's than Burpees). -No altering videos. It needs to be in real time. So have a clock somewhere visible in the video, so I can be sure that seconds aren't split seconds. Hey, it's a stretch, but some people just really like Wendy's. Good luck, and start training! 4 dollars at Wendy's can feed a family of 4, so seriously, you're getting a lot for the prize. Plus your certificate and movie popcorn.
5 minutes 50 seconds...not too good. I guess I got some work to do. I will be down to 5 minutes in no time.
Iceman thats a great idea! Only problem I have with it is "the complete" an pushup in every rep, thats not the way I like to do them.. (yep I know im a whiny biatch), for me thats an 8 count bodybuilder and the burpee should be a faster more explosive variation. But as I said, great idea, the funiest I have heard on sherdog for a while, this whill be interesting.
Come on Urban help me out on this one... No but seriously, there are a huge following of Ross Enamit on these boards and he recomends doing them like this: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/rossboxing2.htm The diference would be that you land in the pushup position and kind of does a pushup, but that you dont stop and do a pushup. But of course both ways are hard and both should provide a hell of a challenge, im only being an egoist here since im used to do it the "Ross" way... And wouldnt it be nice to se a fat swede giving his best on this bastard?
I was doing the burpees without the push up where you just throw your legs back then from getting back up you jump as high as you can but i was not tucking my knees so that is maybe why it seems a good time! Right as discussed before and in the other thread linked to this one it is a burpee with no push up and jumping as high as you can and tucking the knees. I will have another go at the challenge and tuck my knees as i jump this time and post my new time so just forget about the first time i posted!
Ok just i done the 100 Burpees again but this time tucked my knees this time for evey jump and my new time is 5min 25sec. Hopefully i can better this every time from now on!
