What is stopping 10 round fights?

Designated length of broadcast.

If you went with 10 round fights, one fight would take more than an hour. You'd get 3 fights per event at most. Besides most viewers wouldn't want to see 2 guys trying to not gas for an hour.

Not entertaining, not lucrative, not feasible, just not a good idea.

If nobody is getting finished in five rounds.....the fight is probably going to a decision unless you made it unlimited time. The old ufc had 1 round fights that were 30 mins straight and went to a draw with two exhausted guys.

Wrestlers would just lay on strikers for 20 minutes. The fact that every round starts standing gives strikers a competitive chance. Think of SILVA / SONNEN, lol. Without re-starting rounds I don't think Silva ever would have gotten off the ground.
