I'm not sure what matchup Bisping is looking at (Pun intended) but it's an easy fight with a big name for Paddy. Tony is in his end of career Cowboy Cerrone phase.
I think what Bisping means is that Paddy can still lose to Tony, but if he manages to beat him the community won’t give him any credit because the skid Tony’s been on

He’s not good enough to beat ranked fighters so they give him favorable matchups.

I don't see this going well for Paddy. He just isn't there yet and doesn't look like he has the potential to EVER get there. Tony will really have to look bad to lose to Paddy.

I would bet on Tony unless Paddy were a huge underdog.

I think Bisping is wrong on this one. He's right about the lose-lose but I think he's overestimating Tony at this point in his career. I don't think Tony has much left in the tank.

More or less agree with Bisping here. If it's not a lose-lose, its at least not that great of a situation for Pimblett. Maybe the weakest "young guy builds name off aging vet" W a fighter could score. Even a lot of casuals will be rolling their eyes. And if he loses, then oh shit........

Another submission win for Paddy. To me beating way over the hill T Freg doesn't erase that bs win against Jared Gordon. I don't care how much UFC try to cover it up with this fight.

You're probably right about what Bisping's point is, but it really doesn't matter whether "the community" gives Paddy credit. Paddy's audience isn't the mma community or hardcores; for the most part, we know he's not a world-beater. Paddy's audience is casuals and the UK crowd and, for them, this would be a potentially exciting win against a big-name opponent. That's really all that matters.

Tony is done at the top level. The intriguing part is that paddy hasn't shown to be even close to that. Paddy isn't even booby green level although he is better than Bobby on the ground. Tony has been still shown to be dangerous up until the green fight.
He rocked Chandler and gaethe so paddy could very well still be in trouble here. Paddy either loses and gets mocked furiously for losing to this version of Tony ( who has only fought too guys aside from Green) or he wins and it means nothing as tony is a shell.

Agreed, there isnt much credit in beating the corpse of Tony Ferguson, thing is, Ferguson's corpse can still fight back sometimes and Pimblett isnt exactly elite, just younger.

This fight will tell us a lot. If Paddy is ever going to get to that level, if he scrapes past Tony its a bad look considering he's been getting finished left and right.

If he loses then he's officially a dud and UFC will end the Paddy experiment and he'll just be another fighter on the roster until he is cut.

For Tony he is already done, but if he can beat Paddy then he may be the 155 version of Arlovski for a bit yet, where the UFC wheels him out to have competitive fights with cans, since he's a name that can fill out a card.

Bisping is right though, Paddy will get no credit if he wins, and he will be scorched if he loses. Losing to this version of Tony would be humiliating for a guy who thinks he's a future champ like Pimblett.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if Tony beats him. What the fk does that say about Paddy as a UFC calibre fighter? He came out with all the hype and then started sucking Dana's snow-covered asshole, and now he's fighting the ghost of Tony?

That's the fight Conor wanted. He's moving up, I guess - getting the big fights...
