More newspapers say they are dropping the “Dilbert” comic strip after creator Scott Adams this week advised white people to “get the f–k away” from Black people.
Gannett, the largest newspaper publisher in the US, has announced it will no longer run the workplace comic “effective immediately” over remarks Adams, 65, made on his online show “Real Coffee with Scott Adams.”

Here are the Cliff Notes:
It all stemmed from an interview with this content:
Adams in the video joked that he’s been “identifying as black” for some time, but must have accidentally joined a “hate group,” based on a recent Rasmussen poll. The poll, which surveyed 1,000 people, showed that 53% of black people agreed with the statement “It’s okay to be white,” leaving 47% unable to say they agree.
“Based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from black people. Just get the f*** away,” Adams continued, after commenting further on race relations and crime. “Wherever you have to go, just get away. Because there’s no fixing this. This can’t be fixed. So I don’t think it makes any sense as a white citizen of America to try to help black citizens anymore. It doesn’t make sense. There’s no longer a rational impulse. So I’m going to back off on being helpful to black America because it doesn’t seem like it pays off.”
After the bans Scott Adams Response:
“A lot of people are angry at me today but I haven’t yet heard anyone disagree. I make two main points:
1. Treat everyone as an individual (no discrimination).
2. Avoid any group that doesn’t respect you.
Does anyone think that is bad advice?”
I don't like his second point. I hate closing dialogue, which is what he suggests and the newspapers are actually doing. Scott Adams is a Boomer, but as a Gen Xer from California (perhaps other regions are different?) we had/have friends of all races and no one gave a shit or barely talked about it growing up. I noticed that I and many of other Gen Xers have large groups of friends from High School and prior that we are in touch with to this day. We didn't segment off in groups by innate elements like skin color or sexuality. When a Gen Xer says, "but I have a Black, Gay, Muslim, White, Hispanic, etc. friend", they do, and likely many. We never cared that a person is "Black", just that they were cool or not. We grew up with MLK Jr. and the "colorblind" approach, which we are now told is "racist"? This shit has gone way too far and it's hurting the nation, especially for younger generations. The Melting Pot results cannot come soon enough for me.
What Scott Adams did was out of frustration it appears more so than racism. These newspapers should be reaching out to interview him for a discussion on the matter. That would be far more compelling than just shutting down his voice. To me cancelling people is what cowards do.
