Michael Venom just got KTFO

This is a better result for MVP than getting his leg snapped in half which probably would have happened if Lima kept kicking it. Dude's chicken legs would not have made it five rounds.
 
Seen this coming like 2 years ago or longer. Cocky ass fighters like this will always get a lose. Any and every fighter will get a lose, no one is invincible
 
MVP is unconventional but the whole "showboat, step in & attack, step out" routine is kinda predictable. Lima saw the step in coming and timed him brilliantly.

Very satisfying.

Ppl get their legs kicked out all the time. What got him KOed was trying to get up with no defense after that.

People get legkicked all the time but don´t fall to the ground like that.

What put him down in the first place was overextending, like he always does. He fell in a weird position because he was rushing into Lima

And yes, MVP not protecting his face (like he never does) got him punched and KTFOed.

Im not hating on the guy.. he is good and I always tune for his fights. But his style got him in trouble here. He could have won too.

Interesting to compare this to Machida vs Rua 1.

That fight was also a game of low kick vs lunge punch and Rua did a lot of damage to Machida's leg. But Lyoto was blitzing the counters, moving in with the punch but keeping his base solid, not overextending. Here, MVP plants the lead leg and throws the fist from waaaay over there to waaay over here, putting him off balance and ultimately leading to his (literal) downfall.

The difference is styles is apparent: Machida is a practitioner of traditional Shotokan Karate, where balance and a stable base is emphasized, despite the point-fighting competition rules. MVP is a sports Karate fighter where scoring the point is the ultimate goal and stability can be sacrificed to reach that goal. This may work under a strict sport Karate ruleset but in MMA (and against a good low kicker) it will ultimately fail, as seen here.

There are levels you go through....Daley even in his slightly declined state is still a quality win for your 13th or 14th fight

He has quality wins for where he was....he's still raw as fuck for mma and did very well before that critical mistake vs Lima.

People here talk like they don't even attempt to be educated on this stuff.

I don't think I've ever seen a notable undefeated fighter lose for the first time and not be called an exposed hype job. And people have literally been waiting to say that about Page since his pro debut with no exaggeration. First time I've ever seen a fighter be called a can crusher one fight into their career.

Some discussion around here about the way he got up. Technical stand-ups exist for a reason (if only someone told Fred Ettish). That's day one MMA/BJJ class stuff, which I'm sure Page knows, he just thought he'd be quick enough to pop up to his feet instead instead of risk being grounded for another round. He should have rolled immediately to his back and used a technical stand-up if possible, but it's all easy to say in retrospect when you're not in the heat of the moment.

I think the "exposed" talk at least has to wait until he fights a lesser opponent than Lima and still gets his legs kicked out from under him. Page is pretty limited but maybe it's not as easy as it looks to take his legs out from under him. It's not as if it happened over and over in that fight. Time will tell.
