Zero to Hero Log

Nah, I don't feel my numbers are good enough to post there yet. Maybe after I finish this volume training I'll post'em up. On top of that I still can't squat or bench, so they wouldn't be correct anyways. :(

I wasn't able to reattempt any maxes, but I'll be hard at work lifting in another country. If I am able to post when I'm there I will, otherwise I'll have some massive posting to do sometime in February. Good luck to everyone and have a good New Year.

I got a full body workout in on the 30th of December, I don't have the numbers on me but I hit Deadlift/Goodmorning/Squat/Bench/DB Bench. This 7th of January there is some kind of Powerlifting competition going on here, so I signed up and I'll see what happens. I'm thinking of trying the following numbers, should we go by the 3 attempt thing that seems standard.

Bench: 215/225/235
Squat: 245/255/265
Deadlift: 355/365/375

The middle number is my current PR, so I want to get in a lift I'm pretty sure I can do, then do my old PR, then go for a new PR. Anyone have any advice on this?

I went with the weights above, except I started at 345 for Deadlift, then went to 365, and did 230 as my final weight for bench. The weight plates were 12 sided, so they may have been slightly lower for Deadlift than "normal" plates. I technically failed on 225 for bench since the bar hit the stand on the way up, and failed at 230 for bench. I failed at 265 for squats, but I got 375 for Deadlift, so I made that goal.

The competition was cool, but only 2 girls and about 7 guys competed and there were about 30 people watching, which made it kind of akward. I didn't like the squat portion, because they didn't tell you when you went low enough, they just had you do your weight and when you were done they told you whether it was low enough. This hurt me for my first rep at 245 because the judge said I went way below parallel, so that probably hurt my next lifts a little. I can only blame myself for hitting the stand for bench, but deadlift went great and I did the second most out of everyone there. They did it pound for pound and there were lots of lightweights with comparably big numbers, so I didn't finish that great but it still was fun and a learning experience. The guy that won it weight about 132, benched about 260, squated about 285, and Deadlifted about 345. He was pretty incredible.

Meh, I guess there wern't enough people for weight classes. Good job though hitting your Dl goal man! That little guy sounds pretty impressive. Good numbers for 132 lbs.

Still thinking about a road trip to WI to watch fatty and tayon do thier Strongman comp?

jk - Yea the trip is still on, I'm wondering if it should be a crazy drinking binge afterwards? I vote for drunken madness...
