Youtube encourages people to subscribe to "black creators" just because they're black...

Actually it is
No. There is no attempt at suppressing any race.

Through racism.... Makes sense
Racism = maliciously attacking a race or implying superiority. Calling for a more equitable and just society is only racist to those who support the continued hegemonic behavior of traditionally dominant groups.

If I yelled white power nobody would be mistreated, but for some reason everybody would still call that racist.
White power has been used to intimidate people. White power has been the traditional American power structure. It also implied racial superiority.

What would that have to do with what you posted? I don't care about black history month, but to only celebrate one race is inherently showing favoritism
They are not being celebrated at anyone's expense. They are just getting some recognition after centuries of whitewashing. It is not favoritism, it is giving a voice to marginalized groups. The only people who have a problem with this are racists who can not stomach it when there is any attempt at teaching history more accurately.

History is written by the winner, and winners write history in a manner that glorifies them and or downplays the experience of conquered peoples. Black history month just aims to make history more accurate.[/quote]

This whole time I thought the algorithms had determined me to cool and hip.

Roses are red,
it gets dark at night,
hit the like button if the creator is white!

For some reason I don't think that would be accepted.

I like how you had to make up a fictional thing to make your point sound logical. Italian heritage month doesn't exist.

Italian Heritage month is October.

Sure, if all the different identities got their own month to be promoted, then this would be fine. But that's not the case. So your example is nonsense, and so is promoting content creators on the basis of their skin color.

Lots of different identities have "months" actually.

http://www.diversitycentral.com/calendar/heritagemonthguide.php

Black history is American history. It doesn't need it's own month. And people don't need to be promoted based on their skin color

Well that is your opinion, and if you were able to communicate that opinion without sounding willfully uninformed you may even find an audience.

Italians are an ethnicity, they are White, so are part of mainstream American history. No one talks about Yoruba history month or Mande history month or Hausa history month or Igbo history month.

As another poster mentioned, the reason there is a Black history month is because mainstream American history has typically not given attention to Black history, outside of slavery and segregation. The same is true for Amerindians. There should be a Native American history month also.

Here's an analogy:
Black bikers created their own clubs, not because they wanted to exclude others, but because White bikers would not let them into the established biker clubs. In the same vein, because American history has typically not focused on Black history, some educators felt there should be a month where Black history is included, beyond just mention of slavery and segregation.

No. There is no attempt at suppressing any race.

One race is being pushed into the spotlight while all others are not. That is a double standard. It's not that complicated dude
Calling for a more equitable and just society is only racist to those who support the continued hegemonic behavior of traditionally dominant groups.

That isn't what YouTube did. They told people to subscribe to black YouTube creators.

How is it equitable to prop up one race?

Free blacks made up a larger % of slave owners then whites. What are you on about with the victor rewriting history. How does it apply here?

How do blacks fit in American history outside of slavery and segregation? I mean apart from those things arent they American? What else do you figure should be included?

Does anyone think it would be acceptable to have a 'whitepeoplemeet.com' dating site?

That is your spin. And Re. Black history month : Educators are just attempting to give a more accurate and inclusive representation of history. Do you want American history to only focus on EuroAmerican history?

That isn't what YouTube did. They told people to subscribe to black YouTube creators.
I don't support YT's action here.
Below is Post#139 from me
"I agree. YT may have meant well but it so easily comes off as condescending. It ends being counter productive."

Below is post# 142
I didn't say YT was keeping Black YTers down, I just meant they weren't as well known so YT decides to give a shout-out.

I don't even think this is good idea. Just saying that I don't YT meant any harm towards White YTers, they just wanted to promote Black YTers because they think it helps the little gu
y.

How is it equitable to prop up one race?
They aren't being propped up at the expense of anyone else. They are just getting more attention in history education. I am talking about Black History month here, not Youtube's request for people to subscribe to Black content creators.

They had a voice before YouTube showed favoritism
I thought we were arguing about Black history month? To reiterate: I don't support YT's request for people to subscribe to Black content creators.

Misleading, because the vast majority of slaves were owned by Whites. Yes a few Blacks did own slaves, but it was essentially a White institution , of which race was the biggest factor. Slavery isn't just about ownership, it is also about cultural genocide and the 20 odd million Africans who perished making the transatlantic journey. And I bet you are now going to retort that 'Africans enslaved Africans'.

The victor does write history; this has been a well accepted fact. It was the same everywhere in the world, and not something limited to Whites. Infact I have often mentioned in the Warroom that Whites are much more fair in the writing of history than Asians (MiddleEasterners, South Asians, East Asians). I have also mentioned that I trust Western historians way more than I trust Eastern historians.

Biased historical narratives are less an issue now, because of mass media, but it was the norm in olden days.

For most of American history, mainstream America has never seen Blacks (or Amerindians) as American. They were always 'the other'. American has traditionally denoted White Christians. Aside from slavery and segregation, they can touch on everyday African American life, on Black notables that get ignored from historical narratives, on culture and customs specific to Blacks, on the many African ethnic groups the slaves came from.

Ironically while America has by-and-large abandoned the racialist thinking that only Whites are American, the rest of the world still clings to the racist mindset. I recall watching a news program many years ago, where an African American working in India (for an American multinational) was asked where he was from; when he told his co-workers he was American, they would not believe him. To them only Whites can be American. This is also the mindset in Arabia. Arabs also only believe that Whites can be American. This is part of the motivation for Birtherism, even though it was a Jewish American supporter of Hillary who created Birtherism.

No, and it doesn't

Hadn't seen those posts. For the record I don't think they did it to hurt white people. I just don't think it shows good faith in wanting equality when you support one race the way they did in the tweet

Well the vast majority of the country was white so that doesn't really mean much. Only like 1 % of white men owned slaves compared to like 13% of black men.

Anyways I don't really care to discuss black history month because I don't really care that much. It's my opinion that it is unncessary and doesn't do well for racial tensions to keep "segregating" ourselves in various ways. I dont froth at the mouth about it. It's just meh to me

It sounds like you're kind of admitting that we already have addressed the teaching of American history in our classrooms. Maybe black history month should be changed to cultural identity month? Where people celebrate their various cultures and histories/roots? That would be inclusive to all people no?

I support a more accurate teaching of history. Which means we should give more focus towards Black and Native peoples, and the experiences of Asians/Pacific Islanders as well. Ideally this should be within the scope of regular history classes , but until then I don't think it is wrong to have a Black History month. I strongly support an Amerindian History month too.

Advocating for black YouTube channels during black history month?

Outrage!

Exactly.

“Why do we have black history month and not white history month,” is this dumbshit’s next thread idea.

Why not a multicultural week or month? Where we can all celebrate our roots?

Who said I was bothered? Are you about to claim I'm 'triggered'? Because if you are, be aware of the long dark tunnel of irony you're entering into (it's you SJW folk who get 'triggered', not people like me).

A major media outlet is telling people to subscribe to youtubers solely based on race... and you see no problem with that. You're actually trying to rationalise it. LOL

"SJW" do get triggered easily.

Than again, so do "snowflakes".

A white man offended by a simple tweet on a screen they can choose to follow or ignore and decide bitching about it to Sherdog of all places is most certainly "not triggered" right ?

As a white man i read that tweet and moved on with my life. I didnt feel threatened by it or feel the need to follow black ppl on youtube.

Either you are a "snowflake" or the proud owner of a micropenis.

Man up for fucks sake n quit making the rest of Caucasians look bad.

How do you know 3rd or 4th generation immigrants are going to be as much of a problem as 1st or 2nd generation immigrants?

There's no reason to suggest it will change, especially in the future when there will be less jobs for the least intelligent in society. Europe is just importing a permanent underclass who hate Western civilisation, and view it as the antithesis of everything Islam stands for. Muslims have very little identity outside of Islam, so naturally they will cling to it as tight as possible, particularly young Muslim men.

How do you know the growth rates will stay the same for 50 years+ for this fantasy of yours to come true?

Muslim fertility rates are on the decline around the world and Europe is no exception, but it's not enough for there to be any dramatic changes. Their fertility rate in Europe is still much higher than native European fertility rate and combined with the mass migration of Muslims into Europe, which is NOT going to stop and all signs are that it will only get worse, it spells serious trouble for Europe.

Keep on asking your stupid questions though, making out there's nothing to worry about.

However OP, why are you crying?

Who says I am?

Really who gives a shit, what a tweet from a private company has to say.

Plenty of people care. It's gives us an insight into how SJWism has polluted soceity. Why would anyone subscribe to people's youtube channels solely based on race? You seriously don't see a problem with a company telling us to do that?

This tweet has nothing to do whether we have a white supremacist system or if white privilege exist.

If a white supremacist system existed, it would currently be crushing youtube for being pro-black.

There is no 'system of white supremacy' and 'white privilege' doesn't exist.

Just more right wingers crying about fucking tweets...Literally the biggest pussies in the world.

Oh look, another leftist projecting. You're the ones who cry about being 'triggered' and demanding 'safe spaces'. Always remember that.
