My all time favorite band managed to sneak into this era with a very raw, alternative debut.

Although to be honest, Britpop is the standout music of the 90s and always will be. Completely changed the landscape of Britain. Eat this up.

The word "alternative" casts a pretty wide net. I'm ridiculously partial toward Alice in Chains, so all of their material I feel must be included here:

@WadCheber, check out "Tyler" by the Toadies. That's another good one, and even more unsettling lyrically than "Possum Kingdom."

A friend just recently got me on to that song...
I remember that group from when I was in high school, but I had never heard that song.
But, I do dig it now.
