Mexico can impose annual trade sanctions worth $163.23 million against the United States after winning a dispute over trade in tuna fish, a World Trade Organization arbitrator ruled on Tuesday.

Mexico's economy ministry said it planned immediate action to initiate the trade sanctions.

So instead of Mexico paying for the wall, we're just going to pay Mexico instead.

Winning!

Mexico, they're ripping us off on trade, our leaders are SO stupid

I mean: How stupid are we?

How is this even a thinly veiled Trump bash thread?

"The US has just lost a major trade battle with Mexico and it revolved around tuna.

On Tuesday, the World Trade Organisation ruled that Mexico is allowed to impose $163m (£127m) a year in sanctions against the US on trade in tuna, ending a years-long dispute.

The clash, which dates back to 2008, centred on the US insisting that any Mexican tuna sold in the US must have a ‘dolphin safe’ guarantee, meaning that no dolphins were killed by fishermen catching the tuna."

Mexico originally asked for a sanction of $472.3m to be imposed as a result of it being discriminated against by US demands for paperwork and even sometimes government observers.

In 2013, the US changed its rules, but the WTO said that Mexico was still being treated unfairly.

In 2016, the US changed its rules again, enforcing the tougher restrictions on all countries and not just Mexico.

Reuters reported that if the WTO decides that this step has stopped the discrimination, Mexico would have to stop its retaliation. The WTO is expected to make a decision in July.

A spokeswoman for the US Trade Representative's office told Reuters that the WTO ruling “does not take into account the United States' most recent dolphin-safe labelling updates and dramatically overstates the actual level of trade effects on sales of Mexican tuna caught by intentionally chasing and capturing dolphins in nets”.

they'll enforce this how exactly?

nexxxxxxxtttttttt

Eating too much tuna ain't good for you, since tuna contains higher concentration of mercury than other fish types. Salmon too, especially the farmed ones.

Trump didn't pass a budget yet.

He didnt weigh in on the tuna issue either.

but apparently it happened on his watch so it's is claim

Ipso facto-- trump is to credit for the strength of the nasdaq and economy over the past few months.

A trade dispute and the economy are two different things.

He didn't weigh in on a trade dispute, that's his failure.

why does the WTO hate dolphins

Evil_dolphin.JPG

1. They gang rape females “Dolphin sex can be violent and coercive. Gangs of two or three male bottle nose dolphins isolate a single female from the pod and rape her, sometimes for weeks at a time. To keep her in line, they make aggressive noises, threatening movements, and even smack her around with their tails. And if she tries to swim away, they chase her down.”

2. They are horny and they don’t mind humans as a partner. Being horny is all fun and good until you are the unwanted recipient. Horny dolphins can turn and rape humans. Demi Moore is rumored to have had a close encounter of the finny kind.

3. Dolphins have prehensile penises. This combined with the #2 is more than enough to scare the bejebus out of me. I thank Christopher Moore and his book Fluke for painting a vivid mental image of this.

4. Dolphins kill babies of other species. Again quoting Miriam, “In Scotland, scientists found baby harbor porpoiseswashed up with horrific internal injuries. They thought the porpoises might have been killed by weapons tests until they found the toothmarks. Later, dolphins were caught on film pulping the baby porpoises-the dolphins even used their ecolocation to aim their blow at the porpoises’ vital organs.”

5. Dolphins kill their own babies. Males are known to kill off babies. In one study, 5 juvenile bottlenose dolphins had fatal injuries consistent with a bottlenose dolphin attack. Infanticide by males may occur within dolphins, as it does in other species, because females become immediately ready for pregnancy after the death of infant. The study also suggests that violent interactions with harbour porpoises (near 100 incidents in this study alone) by bottlenose dolphins may occur because they confuse infants of the two species.

6. Dolphins never sleep. Yep dolphins can stay awake for five days straight with no loss of mental acuity. And after missing all that sleep they don’t even need to catch it up with little dolphin naps. So great, horny dolphins are probably awake while I’m sleeping. Just fantastic.

7. Dolphins are voracious predators. Dolphins are not some crystal and patchouli wearing vegan. Nope they are stone cold meat eaters. The feed in packs so no fish or squid can escape. Hunts are coordinated and focused on decimating prey. Dolphins are inventive and creative and nothing is safe. Not even us on land.

8. Dolphins like to screw around with other animals just for the hell of it. Sure dolphins love to play and that is so cute. Of course, when all those cute toys become boring what should a dolphin do? Use a baby shark as a volleyball

9. Dolphins are sexually transmitted disease bags. Yep dolphins are just full of STD’s. h/t to SFS

10. Dolphins engage in homosexual behaviors, just like many other animals in the nature. This causes them pleasure. It is unclear if there are individual dolphins that are only engaging in homosexual behaviors, and do not conduct sexual relationships with female dolphins, or is it just a way for them to enjoy themselves.
