+++WOW+++Anti-Immigration Politicians and Media Personalities BTFO!

We need to stop immigration of these people who refuse to assimilate to America. Their backwards ideology isn't compatible with our productive nation.

Yeah we really need more rabble rousing and breakaway regional identities in America. Our political landscape is not anywhere near tribal enough yet.

Besides our immigrants never behave like this. They totally just assimilate.

This was all a reaction to the last administration pouring in fake refugees.

There's no issue with legal immigrants.

It's about 40 year old 12 year olds from countries that hate America getting in and paid to stay while committing crimes like rape and murder.
What are they refugees from?
I would love to see your evidence for these claims.

Circumstances are quite different from 100+ years ago. Should we also point out all the other stuff our ancestors did over a hundred years ago as evidence that we should still be doing it today?

I'm sure many pacifists have grand-dads who shot and killed people in various wars. Are they also hypocrites for advocating peace? After all, their peaceful circumstances were only allowed by ancestors who fought and died for the piece of land that they currently live in.

Is a modern liberal a hypocrite considering that their grand-grandparent may have been a conservative blowhard tycoon who made his high standard of living off the backs of cheaply employed labourers, resulting in economically favourable circumstances for his off-spring?
This has nothing to do with this thread in any way. Care to weigh in on the actual topic?

What exactly is different between economic immigration back then and today?

The need for unskilled labour has decreased, and will continue to decrease even further.

Yes, and thats a huge reason why illegal immigration has stabilized and why immigration from Mexico has reached a net zero.

The fact is however that illegal immigrants in the USA are for the most part employed and for the most part they a productive members of society.

So why are people so against regularizing the status of people who are currently contributing without giving an alternative on how to fill the millions of filled position during a time where labor is already tight as hell.

I frankly don't care about America's immigration problems. Illegal immigration from South America on their part was a huge mistake that ought to be corrected, basically a modern day version of slavery/indentured service. Created an under-class of people who do not have full rights as citizens, and who've brought down labour rights for everyone else. As for the best way to correct that problem, I'm all ears. I have no one answer to give, one way or the other.

I'm only concerned with not repeating the same mistake over here, at a time when there are none of those sorts of jobs to offer, with automation gradually making raw physical labour obsolete. Mass immigration in the West, today, only serves to create an under-class of people who cannot even produce anything. But they would be able to produce in their home countries, most likely, and create better living standards there, instead of decreasing them in the West, by becoming functionless members of welfare states.

Proof that they have brought down labor rights for everyone? Also calling it indentured servitude is an exaggeration, they can leave whenever they want.

When automation comes and they end up without a job they will head back to their countries.

America's labour rights are notoriously terrible. A big part of the reason why, is because they've managed to uphold a highly competitive labour force, through immigration. A worker that demands higher pay and less working hours, will simply be replaced by an immigrant willing to work for half the price, and twice the hours. Something that never happened in many European countries, thus the labour parties were able to get their way, as the labourers were irreplaceable, and the only pool of producers that the employers could tap into.

To where would they go? Back to where they came from?

Just recently, we had an Afghan immigrant being deported back to Afghanistan, and he began shrieking like an animal while attacking people. There have also been suicide attempts. You think these guys want to go back?

Why? They make more money unemployed in the West, than by working a job in their own countries. They are guaranteed social services and education. Smaller risk of death or being robbed blind, also.

Less so in America, but even then, the standards of social welfare are gradually going up there. Especially since almost all immigrants vote in favour of them, as they should, even though ironically they are a large part of the reason why there are fewer social services in America than Europe.

How are immigrants stopping lawmakers from writing more labor rights?

Also the whole, they work for peanuts is a not true, there would be no incentive at all to work in subpar living conditions.

Where would you deport them now?

Afghans are not illegaly immigrating for economic reasons.

This is demonstrably false.

Immigrants dont vote.

I quite frankly dont understand your point.

"Deport them all in mass now while they are working and contributing, because you may need to deport them in mass down the road when automation makes their jobs less relevant".

If you are going to deport them in mass, it would be better if you do so when they have run their economic value to the nation isnt.

They work for peanuts in comparison to what they native worker would have worked for, if it weren't for the fact that he can be replaced by an immigrant.

The original intention behind America, was to create an oligarchy of elite land-owners who can constantly bring in new workers as immigrants (originally slaves/indentured servants), to prevent themselves from being reliant on labourers as a class, the way that Europeans ultimately became. The American labour caste never became seen as valuable, because they were always seen as replaceable, through immigration.

Every generation of American blue-collar workers, except perhaps today, was brain-washed into thinking that their lack of worth to the society was simply the normal state of affairs. Because the American elite caste managed to invent a system of immigration which allowed for a highly competitive pool of labourers, except in the post WW2-era of decreased immigration, when the society briefly grew more equal between the classes (which it hadn't been in the prior eras of slavery/indentured service, and now in the era of mass immigration).

Where would you deport them now?

To where they came from.

Afghans are not illegaly immigrating for economic reasons.

Yes they are. Many Afghans might live in more peaceful lands than a South American. It all depends on the region.

Nevertheless, many people immigrate to live in a region with more security and stability than their place of origin. Having a job and making money is not necessarily an incentive for them. Even if they make less or roughly the same amount, they are encouraged to stay because of the relative stability compared to their origin country.

This is demonstrably false.

No it isn't.

Immigrants dont vote.

Illegal immigrants don't vote. Immigrants do vote and so do their off-spring. Mostly in favour of social security, which is fine. Unfortunately, mass immigration is one of the greatest enablers of economic inequality, and the greatest deterrent to having better labour rights/social security in a society.

I quite frankly dont understand your point.

If you are going to deport them in mass, it would be better if you do so when they have run their economic value to the nation isnt.

I haven't said that anybody should be deported in mass. I have said that illegal immigration, and mass immigration as a whole, needs to be prevented by stronger immigration control.

Their jobs are already less relevant. We are reaching the stage where they become completely irrelevant. And then we have created an under-class of people who do not have a function to their society, while their origin countries suffer. You can keep excusing it but we all know that it is true. There is no benefit to modern-day immigration into the West, except the selfish benefit to the immigrant.

The host country no longer requires such a labour force, while the origin country loses theirs.
