Would Tyron be the first more athletic fighter GSP ever fought?

Woodley isn't as explosive as Prime GSP, get out of here son.
GSP was the most explosive fighter ever, and the very best at transitions between striking and wrestling. His timing was perfect too.
Woodley has the knockout power over him, that's all.

As far as fighting goes, Georges is superior to Tyron in virtually every way with the exception of power in his hands.

When Tyron wants to be, he definitely has a speed advantage over GSP. As well as strength

Supposedly GSP is incredibly strong. In his entire career I don't ever remember anyone out muscling him. Even against a probably roided Bigg Rigg he had more take downs than Hendricks did.

From that Joe Rogan interview he seemed to want to fight Khabib or Conor if he were to somehow get the belt. I know he never said it but it would be "unique". Guess he is looking to jump in for a lightweight title fight or fight Khabib at a catchweight maybe. Definitely done at 185 and didn't sound like fighting for the 170 belt or Woodley was on his radar.

Stop with the explosiveness = athleticism bullshit. You have been brainwashed. BJ is a better athlete than Woodley and GSP is way better than Woodley.

BJ is more flexible, but Woodley is all around just as athletic

Probably. Prime Alves was really explosive too

Agreed, also Koscheck and Sean Sherk come to mind. The muscle shark was 31-1-1, his only loss being a competitive 5 round decision against Matt Hughes. It is GSP's most underrated win IMO, it hardly ever gets mentioned.

It was about as dominate GSP has been too besides the Trigg fight. GSP ran through him

Come to think of it, GSP has never fought a black fighter. Just pointing it out that's all.

Does athletic mean explosive and strong?

(Serious question)

What about stamina, endurance etc?

I mean, Nick Diaz is probably the guy who trained the most hours out of GSP's opponents, and might have the best cardio - and to some people that might be a true athlete. But he ain't explosive and can't do carthweel flips.

More flexible, can also jump out of a swimming pool. Has insane balance and coordination. The only athletic trait Woodley has on BJ is explosive strength.

Nick was noticeably slowing down in rounds 4 and 5 VS Condit, while Condit was still fresh. Condits cardio>>>>>Nicks

Jumping out of a 3ft pool is not that hard for an athlete. There are plenty of videos of normal people doing it. Woodley also has insane balance. Woodley is faster, more explosive, stronger, just as good balance etc... He is at the least, as athletic as Penn was

Surprised no-one else said it:

GSP is old and well past his prime. He is one of the greatest fighters ever and at this point in his career, he has earned the right to do whatever the fuck he wants. He still probably beats Woodley though since Woodley has not fixed any of the weaknesses Rory exploited
GSP is 37 and T-Wood is 36. (28 vs 21 fights, similar mileage)

GSP being old and out of his prime is completely thrown out of the proportion by people. But sherdoggers gonna sherdog.
