would MLK be a conservative today?

No. Hell no, he wouldn't. The latter half of his movement focused on economic inequality and argued the efficacy of expanded government to reduce this inequality.

holy shit that is incredibly stupid

fact is that he was a republican
he was a baptists minster---fact

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

This is all in contrast with the liberal judge by race not individual actions, the rampant push towards secularism the dems are doing now, the fact that the dems are praising Planned Parenthood who murder more blacks than anyone currently

A person would have to be a complete idiot or not know any facts about MLK to say he would be a democrat today. Shit, the libs today get offended at BEING A MELTING POT ffs!

I'd put more effort/detail into this but you're such an idiot that there really isn't any point.

Is anything I am saying wrong? You have one line of a quote. I have multiple lines from his most famous speech, his political affiliation while alive. And his religion and his dedication to it.

Fact is that in MLK's day the civil rights act was not passed. Passing it and getting rid of the Jim Crowe laws changed the game for blacks immensely. There is no reason to think he would want the crazy shit the current libs are trying to do.

I imagine you already know that I am much more socialistic in my economic theory than capitalistic… [Capitalism] started out with a noble and high motive… but like most human systems it fell victim to the very thing it was revolting against. So today capitalism has out-lived its usefulness.
Letter to Coretta Scott 1952

And one day we must ask the question, ‘Why are there forty million poor people in America? And when you begin to ask that question, you are raising questions about the economic system, about a broader distribution of wealth.’ When you ask that question, you begin to question the capitalistic economy. And I’m simply saying that more and more, we’ve got to begin to ask questions about the whole society

Call it democracy, or call it democratic socialism, but there must be a better distribution of wealth within this country for all God’s children.

I am now convinced that the simplest approach will prove to be the most effective – the solution to poverty is to abolish it directly by a now widely discussed matter: the guaranteed income… The curse of poverty has no justification in our age. It is socially as cruel and blind as the practice of cannibalism at the dawn of civilization, when men ate each other because they had not yet learned to take food from the soil or to consume the abundant animal life around them. The time has come for us to civilize ourselves by the total, direct and immediate abolition of poverty.

You can’t talk about solving the economic problem of the Negro without talking about billions of dollars. You can’t talk about ending the slums without first saying profit must be taken out of slums. You’re really tampering and getting on dangerous ground because you are messing with folk then. You are messing with captains of industry. Now this means that we are treading in difficult water, because it really means that we are saying that something is wrong with capitalism.

If America does not use her vast resources of wealth to end poverty and make it possible for all of God’s children to have the basic necessities of life, she too will go to hell.

You revel in your own ignorance.

Think about that. You could probably be better than Abraham Lincoln.

But some men have unique voices. Moses wasn't good at speaking and he was good at carrying out gods will. David was selfish and ambitious. I would already be a better man than Lincoln if I didn't have to text mobile while I sling pizza. Bottom line is I had to start the conversation here before the MSM lies and agenda gets introduced.

hiya there Lex again,

well, take heart.

though many of Mr. Trump's positions are an anathema to conservatives, his cabinet choices should be of great comfort to you, i reckon.

I hope that trump can scrap obamacare and drain the swamp. I would like to see Obama and Hillary behind bars but I don't think I will get that. I think we should drain the universities of funding.

He was a social conservative and theres no debating it. He for damn sure would not support the baby killing democrats.

The modern Democrats are just awful, racist, bigoted terrorists whose veins flow with not blood like the rest of us, but a putrid cocktail of urine and vitriol that causes them to want to rip apart the fabric of our country's social solidarity.

MLK would be in Trumps cabinet trying to fix shit if alive today.

And john lewis would call Dr. King an Uncle Tom.

It's so depressing and shameful what we've become.
He was a social conservative and theres no debating it. He for damn sure would not support the baby killing democrats.

If MLK were alive, he'd likely be one of the most hardcore, rabid BLM supporters out there, he'd make Shaun king look like a joke.

hiya there Lex Bigelow,

draining the swamp means putting the President of the United States in prison, along with the former Secretary of State...and cutting Federal funding for colleges?

and President elect Trump has promised to scrap Obamacare, but he's also promised to lower premiums, lower deductibles and increase the amount of Americans who receive coverage. how does he do that?

you lost me there, Lex.

hi WandyWiolentFan,

until 2015, when Mr. Trump decided he wanted to win the GOP nomination for President, he'd had a pretty consistent history of being pro-choice.

MLK would be humiliated at what the black community has turned into while using his name.

Hi IGIT,

That is absolutely true but how does that pertain to the topic of MLK?

I was taught all about the guy in school as a kid like he was the only person more important than Abraham Lincoln. Isn't his dream antithetical to the color coordinated race based social engineering of today's progressives?
BTW I found out that martin Luther king was also a big philanderer like so many other people like jfk . it really makes you question this whole PC paradigm. Its like how having a racist attitude is always worse than being a deadbeat dad or whatever other bad thing. If anything mlk being a tiger woods like cheater only strengthens the argument that the messages matter when the messengers are not acting like choirboys.
Would mlk want his kids to receive a race based preference or would he want to see them master their own worlds and become valuable professionals? BTW, was Ray Charles a dupe? When he sang America?

you lost me with the first "hiya there" you put in this thread. Our schools are just teaching marxism.

Put Eric Holder in jail for temporarily ruining Darren Wilson's life.

I bet you that he would be on board with this LGBT stuff tho...

hiya there once more Lex,

when i recall my time spent at New York University, i don't recall any classes in marxism. could you illuminate me, my friend?

i don't really know what you're referring to.
