First Reactions to WONDER WOMAN Test Screening are Reportedly Good

A test screening of Wonder Woman was reportedly held recently, and now reactions to that screening are hitting online, and they paint a very good picture of how Wonder Woman plays with audiences.

Most of these "reactions" are second or third-hand 'friend of a friend said," type reports, and MUST be taken with a grain of salt.

Ares Confirmed as the Villain in WONDER WOMAN; New Images Released

Naa7lWl.jpg

It looks like Ares will be the villain in Wonder Woman. Recently, the French publication Studio Ciné Live did a feature on Wonder Woman and divulged details about the movie that fans have been waiting to hear. In particularly, the magazine apparently confirmed that Ares would be Wonder Woman’s adversary in the movie, and Les Toiles Héroïques translated the feature’s description for English-speaking fans. You can check it out below:

“Behind these scientific formulas, there is a deadly gas that could well annihilate humanity. Now, it turns out that this is precisely the goal of Ares, the god of war. He is jealous of humanity, which is a creation of his father, the deceased Zeus (he was killed by Ares when he rebelled against him, with the help of the Amazons)…”

Aside from the Ares revelation, the magazine also spoke with Chris Pine about his role, and the actor shared some new plot points along the way. Pine explained, “I play a pilot who works for the Allies and spies on the Germans without their knowledge. My character steals a notebook filled with scientific formulas in an Ottoman base, he steals a plane but is shot down in the open sea.”

First Official Image of the Amazons in WONDER WOMAN Movie

8461545-menalippe-diana-hippolyta-antiope.jpg

Directed by Patty Jenkins (Monster), Wonder Woman will be an origin story illustrating the transformation of a young Princess Diana into the greatest female warrior of all time.

She will need some help getting there, though. Preparing her for a world of men are three regal women: Diana’s mother, Queen Hippolyta (Gladiator’s Connie Nielsen), and her two military aunts — General Antiope (Robin Wright) and Antiope’s lieutenant, Menalippe (Force Majeure’s Lisa Loven Kongsli). This trio of immortals is responsible for both raising and training Diana — the only child on this estrogen heavy isle — but they don’t always agree.

Hippolyta, a revolutionary leader, longs to shelter her beloved daughter from the outside world, but Antiope, the Amazon responsible for Diana’s training, wants to prepare her. “She is the only child they raised together,” says Jenkins, calling from outside London, where she is deep into the film’s production. “And their love for her manifests in a different way for each of them.”

To create Themyscira, Jenkins and her team used exotic islands off the coasts of Italy and southern China to enhance the otherworldliness of scenes filmed on Italy’s Amalfi coast. Still, designing a fantastical place proved challenging. Every decision about it, she says, came back to a central question: “How would I want to live that’s badass?”

Batman-v-Superman-Wonder-Woman-032316-Dragonlord.jpg

In the latest Fandango survey, moviegoers say that the introduction of Wonder Woman in Warner Bros.’ Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is a primary draw for them.

The film hits U.S. theaters tomorrow at 6 PM, and some exhibitors have raised their opening-weekend projections to north of $160M. Currently, BvS reps 90% of Fandango’s weekend ticket sales, and the Zack Snyder film is outstripping pre-sales for all superhero titles at this point in time. Advance ticket sales for BvS among all services is figured between $20M-$25M.

In Fandango’s lead-up survey to BvS, 88% said they were excited to finally see Wonder Woman on the big screen. Fast & Furious actress Gal Gadot has stepped into the armored bathing suit and Wonder Woman gets her own movie on June 23, 2017.

Sixty percent of those moviegoers polled are also intrigued to watch Jesse Eisenberg’s take on Lex Luther, 82% said they’ve seen Snyder’s Man Of Steel, while 66% are fans of his work. More than half of those polled at 61% said they’ll see BvS more than once.

And in regards to the playground hypothetical –who would you root for: Batman or Superman? — 59% are standing with Batman, while 41% are on Team Superman.

Chris Pine Talks WONDER WOMAN and World War I Setting

Chris-Pine-011416-Dragonlord.jpg

After months of his role being a well-kept secret, Chris Pine is finally able to speak a bit about his portrayal of Steve Trevor in 2017's Wonder Woman movie.

“Steve Trevor is a rogue-ish, cynical realist who’s seen the awful brutish nature of modern civilization,” Pine tells Toronto Sun of his character. “He’s a worldly guy, a charming guy and it’s going to be a great, fun film. There are some incredibly deep, interesting and morally relevant themes."

"It’s [World War I] a period we don’t see often; it’s usually World War II," Pine says. "Our costume design is incredible. We have scenes with, like, 500 extras all in period dress. I’d never been on a film with extras casting as beautifully done as it is here. It highlights a really important point. When background casting is done well, it can make or break a scene. I’ve got people in deep background that have entire lives. It’s awesome, it’s actual make-believe land.”

He is all compliments when it comes to Wonder Woman's director, Patty Jenkins. "Patty is just directing the daylights out of it," he boasts. "It’s shot beautifully feels so wonderfully period, but also has this wonderful pop sensibility.”

WONDER WOMAN and JUSTICE LEAGUE Filming Locations, Schedule Revealed

Batman-v-Superman-Wonder-Woman-042915-Dragonlord.jpg

With Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice now deep into the post-production process and Suicide Squad firmly in the can, Warner Bros. is now readying its next DC Cinematic Universe superhero film for production: Wonder Woman. The movie took a bit to get off the ground, but it's now solidly moving forward with Patty Jenkins (Monster) directing, Gal Gadot starring as the titular superhero character, Chris Pine at her side, and possibly Nicole Kidman in a major role. So when does the movie start filming anyway, and where does Justice League Part One fit into the schedule?

"We're actually gonna start shooting [Wonder Woman] towards the end of [November]. We are shooting in the U.K. and in Italy," producer Charles Roven said. "We're making most of Wonder Woman [in the U.K.] and we're also making most of Justice League there, JL One. We're definitely gonna be shooting Part One in the first or second quarter of next year."

Basically Roven confirms Justice League Part One and Justice League Part Two are not shooting back-to-back, meaning they're two separate productions. Perhaps the fact that it's being treated as an entirely separate production will make it feel more like a satisfying standalone film unto itself. Wonder Woman is slated for release on June 23, 2017 while Justice League Part One opens in theaters on November 17, 2017.

Nicole Kidman in Talks to Play Hippolyta in WONDER WOMAN

Nicole-Kidman-Queen-Hippolyta-Wonder-Woman-110215-Dragonlord.jpg

Oscar winner Nicole Kidman is in ongoing negotiations to play a high-ranking Amazonian warrior alongside Gal Gadot in WB's Wonder Woman, according to TheWrap. Patty Jenkins is directing the comic book movie, which will co-star Chris Pine as Wonder Woman's love interest Steve Trevor - who isn't around to just send flowers and kill spiders.

While Kidman's potential role has yet to be confirmed, the Queen of the Amazons in the Wonder Woman comics is Hippolyta, who also happens to be Diana Prince's biological mother, though it's unclear whether the film will remain faithful to that storyline.

[Update: Variety’s Justin Kroll posted an update on the Wonder Woman casting, revealing that Kidman was indeed offered the role of Hippolyta, though her schedule wouldn’t allow her to participate.]

Chris Pine Confirms Joining Patty Jenkins' WONDER WOMAN

Chris-Pine-Wonder-Woman-102815-Dragonlord.jpg

Chris Pine is said to be playing the role of Steve Trevor in director Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman movie. While it will likely be some time before we discover just how, exactly, Trevor fits into the story, Pine recently confirmed to Premiere (via Heroic Hollywood) that he is indeed co-starring in the film, revealing a very promising behind-the-scenes piece of information: Jenkins is shooting on film:

"I do not really know what I'm allowed to tell you. I'm super excited, of course, Gal Gadot is super talented, Patty Jenkins will perform, and we will shoot in film. What excites me most is to turn in a movie with a superhero woman. With a woman in the lead role. I team with this intelligent, beautiful and strong [woman] to destroy the wicked and save humanity."

The interview was printed in French so the translation is a tad wonky, but Pine certainly seems to suggest that Wonder Woman is treading rare territory behind the scenes. Almost everything is shot digitally these days, but David Ayer shot Suicide Squad on film, so it appears that Warner Bros. is granting Jenkins the same courtesy of capturing Wonder Woman in the same medium. Wonder Woman is slated for release on June 23, 2017.

Chris Pine to Play Steve Trevor in WONDER WOMAN Movie

Chris-Pine-Wonder-Woman-072815-Dragonlord.jpg

Chris Pine has closed a deal to play Steve Trevor opposite Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman, TheWrap has learned. Pine joins the DC Movie Universe in a multi-picture deal that includes sequel options, according to insiders. Steve Trevor will be no mere love interest for Gadot's Diana Prince, as there will be plenty of action to keep him busy, though plot details remain under wraps.

There had been speculation that Pine was up for a role in WB's upcoming Green Lantern Corps and that the Wonder Woman rumors were just a smokescreen, but that popular fanboy theory proved unfounded.

Pine is currently filming Justin Lin's Star Trek Beyond and will soon be seen in Netflix's Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp and Craig Zobel's Z For Zachariah. Pine recently wrapped Disney's Coast Guard drama The Finest Hours and he also has Comancheria with Jeff Bridges and Ben Foster on the horizon.

Patty Jenkins Is the New Director for WONDER WOMAN Movie

Patty-Jenkins-Wonder-Woman-Dragonlord.jpg

Just days after losing a director Michele MacLaren for Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. has quickly found another filmmaker to pick up the reins on the high-profile project. Patty Jenkins, who at one point was to direct Thor 2 for rival Marvel Studios, has closed a deal to helm Warner Bros.' female superhero movie.

Selecting Jenkins helps Warners avoid what some saw as a gender bias against women directors helming superhero tentpoles. Ironically, Jenkins would have been the first female director on a Marvel movie if she had continued on Thor 2. She will now become the first female director to handle a big project in Warner's developing DC universe. The studio needed to move quickly in order not to lose momentum on the project, which has been slotted for 2017 and has Gal Gadot attached to star.

Jenkins is also another experienced TV filmmaker, although she actually got her start in movies. Her debut film was Monster, the indie that won Charlize Theron a best acting Oscar. But showing how hard the film world can be for female directors, Jenkins has had a tough time finding a follow-up feature. She did, however, make a mark in TV, including directing the pilot for AMC's acclaimed crime drama The Killing.

Director Michelle MacLaren Drops Out of WONDER WOMAN

Michelle-MacLaren-Wonder-Woman-Pet-Dragonlord.jpg

Michelle MacLaren has dropped out of directing Wonder Woman due to creative differences, raising questions of whether women filmmakers are welcome in the high-stakes world of big-ticket comics-inspired movies.

"Given creative differences, Warner Bros. and Michelle MacLaren have decided not to move forward with plans to develop and direct Wonder Woman together," the studio, said, in a statement.

Badass Digest reports on the behind the scenes disagreements regarding the direction of the film, including how "MacLaren and Warner Bros couldn't agree on anything - including what time period to set the movie." This is most likely in reference to BleedingCool's report back in October that the first film could take place during the 1920s, with later reports indicated that a trilogy of Wonder Woman films were in consideration, each taking place in different time periods.

The site also explains that "MacLaren had some very particular visions for the film, visions that maybe would have alienated fandom. Although perhaps Diana having a tiger sidekick/pet she could talk with would have appealed to people more than I expect."

PAN Screenwriter Jason Fuchs to Pen WONDER WOMAN Script

Jason-Fuchs-Wonder-Woman-Dragonlord.jpg

Jason Fuchs, who is behind Warner Bros' upcoming Pan movie, is on his way to Paradise Island via invisible jet. The scribe is in negotiations to write the screenplay for Wonder Woman, one of the most important installments of Warners' cinematic universe based on the DC Entertainment characters and one of the most iconic characters in comic book history.

Michelle MacLaren, the director behind some of the top episodes of Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, is developing the project as its director while Gal Gadot is attached as the heroine, the Amazonian warrior princess known as Diana Prince. The movie has a 2017 release date. Fuchs will work with MacLaren on the drafts.

Fuchs is already ensconced with the studio with Pan, the re-imagining of the Peter Pan story that it hopes will launch a franchise when it is released July 17, 2017. The scribe, who also counts Ice Age: Continental Drift among his credits, is also working on the Pan sequel.

It's Official: Michelle MacLaren to Direct WONDER WOMAN

Michelle-MacLaren-Wonder-Woman-Dragonlord.jpg

Michelle MacLaren has signed on to develop and direct Wonder Woman, Warner Bros' big-screen take on the iconic DC character. According to insiders, MacLaren will work with the project's writers, which remain unnamed at this stage, to lasso together a script for the movie, which would star Gal Gadot.

MacLaren was a top choice for the project due to her muscular work on Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, although she is perhaps most associated with her directing and executive producing work on the much-loved Breaking Bad.MacLaren's boarding caps off a director search that began in the summer, and her deal culminates an on-and-off again dance with the Amazonian princess.

MacLaren became a favorite back in August, taking several meetings with Warners execs. Things cooled over the autumn as the studio widened its search. Sources say there was pressure from within to hire a woman for the job as the character has such a strong association with the notion of female empowerment. But at the same time, Hollywood realities were forcing producers and execs to acknowledge that while women directors increasingly work in the indie drama spheres or in TV comedy, few have taken on big-budget, CG-laden tentpoles.

WONDER WOMAN Movie Rumored to Be Set in the 1920s

Wonder-Woman-Amazons-Armored-Dragonlord.jpg

Bleeding Cool is reporting that the Wonder Woman movie will be set in the 1920s as opposed to in the modern day. According to the report, the first film will take place on war torn Paradise Island. Eventually, a man will show up, throwing the status quo off balance with his plea for aid from the Amazons. Wonder Woman leaves the Paradise Island with the man - who is not necessarily Steve Trevor - and then, surprise! It's the 1920s. Wonder Woman then goes on to explore a world that has only just granted women suffrage, from the perspective of someone who just left an all-female society.

According to the report, the plan is to follow the first Wonder Woman up with a sequel set during World War II, and then turn the whole thing into a trilogy with a third film set during the modern day/Justice League era.

To hear Warner Bros. going the period piece route with Wonder Woman is a little surprising, considering that was the direction of Joss Whedon's 2005 Wonder Woman film project that spent two years as an outline before the studio decided they didn't like it. Wonder Woman is expected to be released June 23, 2017.

Warner Bros. Announces Massive DC Entertainment Slate

Justice-League-Alex-Ross-101414-Dragonlord.jpg

During a shareholder meeting today, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara formally announced plans for a Justice League movie, confirming one of Hollywood's worst-kept secrets. The film, directed by Zack Snyder, will be divided into two parts, as the rumored third and fourth Avengers movies are expected to be.

He also surprised the industry with announcements of more than half a dozen movies including Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad, Green Lantern and Cyborg. Four a-list stars are in talks to join Suicide Squad, which will be directed by David Ayer, as announced already. That film is planned for 2016, after Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Tsujihara called it "a gritty story of a team of supervillains who take on black ops missions for the U.S. government.

2017 will see the relase of both Wonder Woman and the first Justice League film. "We're bringing back the cast of Batman V Superman with a cast of other well-known and highly-anticipated superheroes," said the CEO of Justice League. "Wonder Woman is an iconic female superhero fans have been anticipating for many years."

2018 will bring The Flash, starring Ezra Miller, and Aquaman. With all of this new information, they finally did confirm that Jason Momoa will play the role. "Fans among the world will become more acquainted with [The Flash] through our hit show on The CW," said Tsujihara of marketing The Flash. Shazam, which had been expected by many to be the first film post-Batman V Superman, will actually not hit theaters until 2019, the same year as Justice League Part 2.

While they don't yet have release dates, he also confirmed that Cyborg is in development with Batman V Superman's Ray Fisher and that they're working on a Green Lantern movie again. Those films are listed on the schedule above as 2020. Tsujihara also confirmed that the studio is working on stand-alone Batman and Superman films, although no release date was mentioned for them.

Producer Confirms Demigod Origins for WONDER WOMAN

Wonder-Woman-1005-Dragonlord.jpg

Wonder Woman's origin in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice has been confirmed. During an interview, producer Charles Roven described in detail the difference between the world of The Dark Knight Trilogy, and that of the shared DC Universe begun in Man of Steel.

In his final comments, Roven mentions Wonder Woman, and confirms her origin as the daughter of Zeus. Roven said, "Wonder Woman's in it. We know that. She has powers, she's a goddess. She's a demigod. Her father was Zeus."This would seem to lay to rest any other rumors about Wonder Woman's origin in the film, including the one about Amazons being remnants of Krypton.

Wonder Woman's origin has been redone many times since she was first created in 1940. Before DC's New 52 relaunch, Diana was constructed from clay by Hippolyta (who wanted a daughter), and was brought to life by the Greek deities. In the New 52, however, she is the daughter of Hippolyta and Zeus, and recently became the new God of War after killing Ares.

Ronda Rousey Criticizes Wonder Woman, Female Superheroes

Ronda-Rousey-Wonder-Woman-081614-Dragonlord.jpg

Talking with Tommy Toe Hold last week, UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey revealed that she would love to play Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and criticized the film's choice of actress Gal Gadot for the Amazonian princess, whom she criticized as a girl who "couldn't curl a two-pound weight." In a new interview with USA Today, Rousey takes some more jabs at Wonder Woman and other female superheroes in general:

"I'm tired of watching this thing where the woman's superpower is dumbed down. In The Fantastic Four, the woman is the invisible one. In X-Men, (telekinetic) Jean Grey gets tired all the time. Wonder Woman is cool, but she has bulletproof bracelets, while Superman is a bulletproof dude. It's like she has really cool accessories. I think about that a lot."

Interestingly enough, the three superheroes Ronda mentions are poor examples of weak female characters and are in fact three of the most powerful characters in the comic books. The Invisible Woman, not only can she turn invisible, but can also generate near-indestructible force fields and generate constructs. She could create a bubble inside a person's head and expand it until the head explodes. Jean Grey is an Omega-level mutant and destroyer of galaxies when she's bonded with the Phoenix Force. For the past few decades, Wonder Woman possesses a very high resistance to physical injury and that includes being bulletproof. Ronda needs to update her Wonder Woman research since it looks like she's still stuck with the Lynda Carter version.

Ronda Rousey Reveals Why She Should be WONDER WOMAN

Ronda-Rousey-Wonder-Woman-Dragonlord.jpg

Talking on the Tommy Toe Hold show recently (via Yahoo! Movies), MMA superstar and star of The Expendables 3 Ronda Rousey revealed some serious geek cred when talk turned to her love of Pokemon. However, of most interesting is what she said when asked which movie she thinks would be better if it starred her. "They're making a Wonder Woman right now, aren't they?" she asked. "I should have been Wonder Woman, man! That girl couldn't curl a two-pound weight, what's so wonderful about that? I don't understand."

Rousey revealed Mew is her favorite Pokemon. "Mew is the originator of all the other Pokémons ... Mew is the original one and [all the other Pokémon] came from that one. And, you couldn't catch Mew in the original game. You had to use the lavender town," she revealed. "I actually went to the mall for those Pokémon events, those little tournaments to get me a Mew. I wanted Mew so bad. I waited in line with all the other nerds for hours. I wanted to get me a Mew, and a Mew certificate of authenticity that I taped to my wall," Rousey was not ashamed to admit.

"Umm, I'm really good at Candy Crush (laughs)," she adds. "I don't know if I picked up a bassoon right now, if I could play it, like read the music, but I used to play the bassoon. I was really good at bassoon. Wait! I'm really good at Taboo, the game Taboo. I [expletive] wreck it on Taboo."

First Official Image of Gal Gadot as WONDER WOMAN

Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot kicked off the Warner Bros. panel for Hall H with a bang and a teaser made just for the Comic-Con crowd. Rumors abounded that the studio would to do something with its highly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie but no one expected it would kick off the presentation. The crowd, already primed, went bananas. Director Zack Snyder, who previously revealed a new image of Affleck as Batman, also teased a new image of Gadot as Wonder Woman. "We have a teeny little thing," Snyder teased, before unveiling a very short teaser scene.

The trailer opens with Batman standing on a rooftop in the pouring rain. He's dressed in an armor-type costume (different from the Zack Snyder released photo). The costume is very reminiscent of the armor costume that Batman wears in Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. Batman's eyes are glowing bright whitish-blue (different from how his eyes looked in the Batman cowl photo).

There is something else on the roof. It's revealed to be the Bat Signal. Batman pulls down a lever to light the Bat Signal, and its bright, shining beacon reveals Superman, hovering in the air. Superman is also in the middle of the pouring rain, and his eyes are glowing red. The footage cuts back to Batman on the rooftop, staring intently at Superman. Batman's eyes are still glowing a whitish-blue. The trailer ends with the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice logo.

Gina Carano Comments on Gal Gadot Playing Wonder Woman

Gina-Carano-Wonder-Woman-042514-Dragonlord.jpg

Back before Gal Gadot was officially cast as Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman, there were plenty of rumors that other actresses were being considered for the job. One of those rumors revolved around Gadot's Fast & Furious 6 co-star and former MMA competitor Gina Carano. Speaking to the Toronto Sun, Carano says there was never really anything to those rumors:

"That started about four or five years ago, even before Haywire people were saying stuff like that. I was never approached, and I don't know if I was considered. I worked with her [Gadot] on Fast & Furious 6, and she's amazing. Such a great person with such a solidness in her character, so I'm very excited for her to do that."

"I think people have an idea what they consider Wonder Woman. I definitely know [Gadot] has been training and there's so much more that goes into being a strong female character. I think people have their own idea, but I always like the underdog, I'm always rooting for the underdog. If the world says you can't do something, I couldn't care less because that's not how anybody should live their lives."

Gal Gadot will reportedly receive $300,000 to appear in Batman vs. Superman as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, a job that she'll start in May, according to a new feature story on the star that appeared on Israel's Good Evening with Guy Pines. The footage included in the package is older, from her modeling shoots and previous interviews, and so the information included should be considered supposition and rumor, as there's no official comment on the matter from Gadot or her management.

"For production on Batman vs. Superman that is expected to begin in May of this year, Gal will earn an estimated $300,000 for the entire course of filming. Gal is signed to an option deal for at least 2 more sequels. If the movie is successful, the sum will be doubled and tripled," Pines says in the narration according to a translator.

[Update: Variety has confirmed that Gal Gadot has signed a three-picture deal with Warner Bros. to play the Amazon princess in Batman Vs Superman, Justice League movie and a Wonder Woman standalone film.]

Gal Gadot Talks WONDER WOMAN Casting for the First Time

Gal-Gadot-Wonder-Woman-061314-Dragonlord.jpg

Gal Gadot: [On getting the role] "I was just on my way to shooting at LA. I landed at NY in a connection flight when my agent, Hadas Lichtenstein, called me. She says to me “Wonder Woman!” and I’m like 'What??' – 'The role is yours!…and it’s a secret and the news are not yet announced and you can’t tell anyone…' I’m saying to her 'Are you serious??' - and we both scream!

Now it’s a plane from Israel to NY and I can’t make loud noise, and so I lean on a window, bending down to my legs, and just try to understand. Long story short – I was totally alone in NY, I got to a hotel at 12am, I needed to wake up in the morning for shootings. I remember laying in the darkness by myself, staring at the ceiling, and I was telling myself 'It’s not real!'…it shouldn’t be like that, I’m supposed to be like… 'where’s the champagne?'”

[On being too skinny for the part] "Hmm. I represent the Wonder Woman of the new world. Breasts… anyone can buy for 9,000 shekels and everything is fine. By the way, Wonder Woman is Amazonian, and historically accurate Amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I’d really go “by the book”…it’d be problematic."

[On preparing for the role] "It’s the physical preparations that I’m starting now. A very serious training regimen – Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, jujutsu, Brazilian…1,000 and 1 things…I’ll gain body mass."

Gal Gadot Cast as Wonder Woman in BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN

Gal-Gadot-081314-Dragonlord.jpg

It’s official, folks! Actress Gal Gadot has been cast in the role of Wonder Woman for the upcoming Warner Bros. superhero film sequel known popularly as Batman vs. Superman. Gadot is best known for her role as Gisele Harrabo in the Fast & Furious franchise, and as a former Miss Universe contestant as Miss Israel.

It was previously reported Wonder Woman will be appearing in the film after my on and off the record discussions with several people in the industry confirmed to me that Warner was quietly searching for an actress to take on the role for an appearance in the team-up film releasing in 2015.

Gadot is an Israeli-born actress best known for her role as Gisele in the last three Fast & Furious films. This will be her first starring role in a feature film and is also no doubt the beginning of a series of appearances by Wonder Woman, likely in Justice League and a Wonder Woman franchise.

NBC Scraps David E. Kelley's WONDER WOMAN 2011 Pilot Starring Adrianne Palicki

Wonder-Woman-Set-Adrianne-Palicki-Dragonlord.jpg

After a tumultuous production filled with script issues and lamentable costume choices, NBC has declined David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman pilot. The series will not be joining NBC's new shows this fall. It seems that a trio of costumes and some last-minute shooting and script adjustments weren't enough to save the hopeful super-heroine series. Fan reaction to leaked production photos and Ally McBeal-like scripts has been almost universally dour, and the first reveal of Wonder Woman's costume only served to fuel the fire.

After being turned down for a pilot order by every major broadcast network (including NBC), the peacock network picked up the pilot in January. Casting and pre-production began immediately, with Friday Night Lights starlet Adrianne Palicki set to play the titular Amazonian princess and Elizabeth Hurley cast as Wonder Woman's long-time arch enemy, Veronica Cale. Other cast members announced included Cary Elwes and Justin Bruening, while Jeffrey Reiner (The Event, Friday Night Lights) was set to direct the pilot.

NBC shelved the pilot today, shutting down the Warner Bros. TV-produced project. Sources inside the network claim that executives weren't impressed with the initial episode and decided against a series based on negative fan reaction on the internet over the last few months. The truth is that Kelley probably wasn't the right man to bring Wonder Woman to fruition. Between moving the character to over-done Los Angeles, introducing a confusing triple identity, and making Diana a more vulnerable, relatable and somewhat powered-down hero, the new version simply wasn't shaping up to honor Wonder Woman's history.

Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman in ‘Batman Vs Superman’
Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.

lol that the string bean playing WW

I'm not worried about her look, I'm worried about her acting ability. I've seen the Fast and Furious movies she's been in and her acting is pretty bland. I'm worried for the Wonder Woman fans and I'm not even a Wonder Woman fan.

Yeah its not like she really had any depth in her roles.

Hooray, a woman who was on nobody's fantasy casting lists for WW nabs the role. I was fine with Affleck as Batman, but Galdot as WW will be a travesty.

Its just bad, she is a pretty face, but that's it , she has no muscle and no goddamn tits , its Wonder Fucking Woman she is supposed to be athletic and voluptuous
