At this point it looks like his only option. Look how long it's taking for joe B to get another crack at DJ. I think D.C beats every HW not named stipe

Long road for him to get a third fight with Jones. He could take one fight at HW and have a very legit case for a title shot. And then he could retire, so it's not like he's getting in Cain's way. And that's assuming Cain will ever even be healthy enough to fight again.
