Will Atlanta's new stadium be done in time for the NFL season? Update: more delays possible

They are eternally optimistic.
Cannon said he could not provide specifics on when the first event might be played with the roof open, although he said it would be at some point during the Falcons’ and Atlanta United’s 2017 seasons.

He said it typically takes 40 days to “mechanize” such a roof after its last “construction move.” Since three more construction moves of the roof are scheduled in the coming weeks, the 40-day clock won’t even begin until after those moves. And Cannon indicated the process could take longer than 40 days because it will be sandwiched around a heavy schedule of events in the stadium.

Even the turf installation they are saying will be in by Aug 8th. As the turf manufacturers schedule that I posted earlier say it takes 3 days to lay the turf, 8 days to sew it together, 8 days to install field markings, 3 days to install the infill and 3 days to cleanup and test. They started laying turf Tuesday so if the schedule holds they should have it down by the end of the day on Friday but at the current rate, I don't know if that will happen. This field is probably larger than most that they do.

When the live camera pans the stadium, there appears to be an area below the camera that has water running even after it hasn't rained for a while. It looks like they are working on the roof on the other side where the outside camera is and I suspect they are also still working on the opposite side. The water is near the large ducts that bring the air into the stadium so maybe it's condensation if they are running the air conditioning. Those should be insulated to prevent condensation. They would have to be exchanging air in the building somehow certainly now that the roof is closed.

They stopped working on the turf at 7PM. It appears that the have about half of it in place. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to lay down 1/2 of it. They could have it in place by Sunday night if they keep that pace. Unless they have a system different than they show on their website, it extrapolates to twice as long as that procedure. If they use the same steps and those take twice as long also that would mean 16 days to sew the seams instead of 8. Maybe they have a different or faster way to join the pieces. The markings won't be permanent because it will be used as a soccer and football field so they might not need those 8 days. They still have to put the infill in it.

They laid the last section of turf Saturday night and cut it to fit Sunday morning. They must have been joining the sections together as the laid each one because they removed the cover and started adding what I assume is the infill this afternoon. They are spreading something white then going over it with another machine and the surface turns green again.

It appears they are done with the turf because they installed the goal posts today but it looks like crap right now. Maybe they have a way to fluff it up but it looks packed down by tire tracks from driving over it for the last week to put the infill on the carpet.

They put all the markings on the field yesterday and are removing them today.

Maybe they'll mark out the diveball pitch next.

They've had the roof slightly open for the past week but they closed it completely last night. They are still doing something on the panels and the solid parts of the roof as well.

They're trying to fix some problem where there has been water running on the floor. Looks like a hard working crew.

Did they get the Chick Fil A finished yet? Extremely important that the Chick Fil A is up and ready for football Sundays

They didn't have any cameras in the concessions areas. I assume they have them done but Chick Fil A restaurants aren't open on Sundays and won't be in the stadium either according to this article.

Why in the hell would they put a vendor that doesn't operate on Sundays in an NFL stadium?

Maybe they know that most of the people who can afford the personal seat licenses don't eat at Chick Fil A?
