Ah I did six years. On ships women cannot help the men escape a flooded compartment. Thy aren't strong enoughAnd that's the problem. I can speak for what I do and I'm pretty sure the military does the same.
There is a push to get females on board and the physical standards have certainly been altered to accomplish this.
There is no place for political correctness in life safety professions. It can literally be a matter of life or death. I've personally seen certain tactics avoided on emergency scenes where protocols were not followed because a female could not lift the equipment.
If a female can make the standard, I have no problem with them, but if they can't, altering standards to make the numbers work is complete bullshit. It's not making us better. It's making us weaker and it will affect people's lives. Maybe even someone in your family.
lmao that's gotta be the worst way to go out:Ah I did six years. On ships women cannot help the men escape a flooded compartment. Thy aren't strong enough
They can't even handle our equipment like hydrant valves and ladders, much less having to drag a victim or another firefighter from a structure.Ah I did six years. On ships women cannot help the men escape a flooded compartment. Thy aren't strong enough
That's terrible, but lollmao that's gotta be the worst way to go out:
Last seconds -- Sarah open the escape hatch! Sarah? Sarah? "I can't lift 200 lbs sir!" "That's OK Sarah. At least we were politically correct!" ughh. .. choking on water, suffocating.
Just lost a friend on the McCain that way. I hope to god that isn't part of the equation.lmao that's gotta be the worst way to go out:

Preferably after their transition. The government in no way, shape or form should be paying for these surgeries.I think it's controversial because most people haven't served and don't really have any idea what military life is like. When you enlist, your initial enlistment is usually for 6 years. Of those 6 six years, a good 6 months to possibly 2 years, you're in training. After that, you get sent to your unit and begin your military career. During your enlistment, your are expected deployable. If a person opts for gender reassignment surgery, they will be considered unfit for deployment, schools, maybe promotions for close to a year. Add up the time you spend training and healing from the surgery and that could very well be half an enlistment right there. All this without taking into consideration the costs involved in turning some random person off the street into someone who is fully mission capable. I'm sure there are also policies and logistical issues that need to thought out before trans genders can once again join the ranks.

I agree though that it's difficult to have a debate without people losing their shit. However, I view posters who get their pannies in a wad, weak minded, frail, individuals. Also, once someone starts hurting insults and rage cussing, you've won. That's usually a sign of defeat.
