Why wouldn’t bellator try to build Rory like gsp? Fights in Canada

I don’t get it every time this guy fights he should be in Canada sane thing with mvp in the Uk and Gallagher. Why does boxing nail this and mma have no clue?

I'm not sure rory is not a fighting robot. Dude is a great fighter, but about as charismatic as a stone. They'll probably wait to get a few more upper tier Canadian fighters before doing that. I think with recent signings though, Bellator should have a lot of European cards with Gallagher, MVP, etc.

I think Kajan may be released after last loss and he and Rory are training partners. So likely he will be in Bellator soon. Has Bellator even been to Canada since Bjorn?

I just looked. They've made a few trips to Ireland, England, and Italy in the past few years. However, they have not been to Canada since Bellator 76, in 2012.

UFC took Rory to Canada right before he left. I don't think he did as well as they would have liked because they didn't try and keep him.

As someone else eluded to, maybe the govt taxes the shit out of the promotion. Maybe its media rights related.

That's more of a reason for him to fight IN canada here people be happy just to see a Canadian boi whooping his opponents ass and rory is the best canadian fighter in the world he could easily fill a big area, hell even Budd could be a decent draw for smaller markets, and soon Letourneau will be a bellator champion they're really missing the boat here.

Ya, the 2 cards Rory main evented in Canada, for the UFC reached or almost reached the venues capacity. 1 of them was pretty weak outside his fight. However, both were stacked with Canadian fighters, which I think is Bellator's hold up. They think they need every fight or every other fight to have a Canadian in it, and as you said (and I agree) they don't. Put Rory, Valerie or Budd, and that young Nallo guy on the card. Throw in just some other good fights. Then throw in a regional fighter or two, which ever territory you go to. I think it would be a huge success.
