Why were all Gracie fighters terrible strikers?

They got submitted by 115 pound girls at their gym... wait...shit

Kron's striking looked decent in his last fight. He has a clear Diaz influence.

Check out those wrists. World class distance management. Fucking Octagon general.

The older generation Gracies fundamentally believe Gracie Jiujitsu is all you need, like literally. They despise every other martial art and they pass on this way of thinking to the younger Gracies, most of whom don't even participate in Vale Tudo fights like the previous generations, but compete exclusively in sports BJJ. So when one or two of them decide to transition into MMA, you end up with these submission aces with no striking, no ability to take punches, and horrible wrestling, and the result is what you saw.

Bc they didn't train their striking just bjj. How is that hard to understand? Also didn't you get beat up by a girl?

Wasn't their whole thing at first to just prove BJJ is the best pure martial art

Because they're con-men selling a product, that's why they've always been sore losers who come up with excuses, because saying anything else would put their product at risk.

It's also why they always put down submission grapplers outside of GJJ, they're the competition (in business).

The Gracie Family is to martial arts, what Dennis Leary is to comedy ;).

Because they never intertrained. They were so stuck up they never tried to move to new camps to learn new things or incorporate new trainers to their camp.

To all you Sherdoggers living in your parents basement typing away with your Cheetos stained fingers saying you don't care for manlets, strawweights, flyweights and/or female fighters cause they have no skill etc. please do the diehard MMA community a big favour STFU. These "manlets" and female fighters in the UFC have tremendous skill and strength but you guys wouldn't know it since you most of you sit on your ass all day and never engaged in any combat sports in your life. Any UFC "manlet" or woman would whoop your ass if you ever stepped into the cage or gym with them let alone a recreational or amateur in the gym training for a few years.

same reason wrestlers are terrible on their backs

Kron, the Gracies in bellator,Ryan and Ralph all have/had effective striking.None of them were striking specialists, each had a unique style, and as awkward as it looked at times it is effective.

Props to the few that even took the time to try I mean the OG Gracies were Bjj and awkward bbq dad brawlers.

I love how all these people post without knowing shit..

The gracies trained bjj and striking they just dont put alot of weight behind it and family has had inner arguments over this for years..but they mainly focused on techniques that require minimal effort for maximum reward striking and trading shots is tiresome and may come with mixed results damage wise so they focus on getting a hold of their opponent and controling and submitting them

Helio gracie and his brothers developed bjj for the common smaller man to be effective no matter the situation..

Hickson gracie and ryan Gracie had some punishing striking and hoyce used push kicks and short strikes to set up techniques ..

There not world class strikers but there style doesnt require them to be they just need to be able to get the fight to there distance and realm which is grappling..

I thought this would be clear and easy to understand its all in there bios and history
