because you dont have fighters. UFC's LHW is dead. HW is pretty dead, but there is some hope.

LHW isn't much better. Jan Blachowicz is the # 7 LHW in Sherdog's overall LHW rankings...that's all of MMA, not just UFC. I'm even Polish-American and like Blachowicz just fine, but that's pretty unimpresive.

You dont need it in mma cause you have the right weight gaps, 185, 205 and HW. In boxing it went LHW 175 to HW which were 220 and up. The CW was made for guys that were like 190 to 200 since there was a 45 lb gap in between. In mma we dont have that. If guys are too small for HW they just go down to LHW

Thing is in many cases HWs and LHWs have a not so different build, but some chose to get bulky and others to stay lean as possible like in many other divisions

HW is the only division where is common see fighters keep extra weight

That's help the huge discrepancy

Also numbers lie, 10 lbs on a FW are an HUGE difference compared to an HW with or without 10lbs

If you watch a 5 tons elephant next to a 6 tons one you will not see it as crazy difference as it sounds

There are already way too many weight classes currently.

When Jones was stripped they should've dropped LHW to 200lbs.

Then introduced Cruiser at 215lbs.

Upped the HW cap to 275.


However this is all fantasy. The UFC has had real trouble filling out LHW and HW with new names, so this move would've hurt both divisions pretty badly. In a perfect world they would in time be able to fill up three divisions (200, 215, 275) but the world is not prefect.
