Dana has stated they have hit financial roadblock with Conor wanting to Co Promote with for all future Conor UFC events. Fact is out GSP and Jones, no other fighters can do 1 million PPV buys.
Conor has 3 choices:
1. Fight Paulie in boxing. Give UFC a much smaller cut this time. +30 Million
2. Fight Tony in UFC. + 10 Million assuming UFC doesn't budge on Co Promoting.
3. Fight GSP at LW. +20 Million. Could be biggest UFC gate of all time. Over 2 Million PPV buys.
-Third fight with Diaz does more money then Conor vs Tony. Every other weight class in the UFC has had non number 1 contenders fight for the title.. even recently GSP just fought for the belt when there is an interim Champ already in the division, along with a Champ. Nate is top ten at LW and holds a win over Conor, Conor's only loss in the UFC, and if Nate were to beat Conor, him as Champ vs Interim Champ Tony, could be marketed correctly and help the WME get from under the Conor era in the 155 division. Because imo, Conor beats Tony, and in doing so, his demands become more ridiculous, and his antics more disrespectful.. which makes him bigger then the UFC eventually, and that can't happen.
-If all parties were creative, they would do Diaz vs Conor 3 in Vegas or LA, in the BOXING RING, BOXING match.. plus it keeps the belt with Conor without him losing it if he gets beat by Nate. UFC gets a bigger market by making the fight a boxing match. UFC boxing and McGregor Promotions get to do a huge event and begin that venture. Win or lose, he gets to defend his LW belt against 155 interim champ (let Tony defend the interim and fight Barboza/Khabib winner, while Conor box's Nate) when he decides to return to the cage in the summer of 2018. They could add Cody vs Cub as the co-main, DJ vs Edgar, Duffy vs CVH
.. all boxing matches. Plus do another boxing event in NY duringredients 2018, with Nick vs Masvidal main event, Stipe vs Bisping as the co-main, Woodley vs Gastelum, Cruz vs Malignaggi, all boxing matches.
-I doubt GSP makes 155 now, nor do I think he would he attempt it.. the fight would have to be at 170 and GSP is just too skilled for Conor in the end. If Conor takes that, he does so looking at it like the Floyd fight, and is in it to get the big payday knowing he will probably lose.
-I doubt he fights Paulie in a boxing match, because it would have to be at 147lbs and it appears Conor isn't willing to cut that much weight again. Would be interesting though in part, because both men have the same amount of one punch ko's in their careers.. so would be interesting if Paulie ko's Conor.
