Why is PC gaming the "master race" when their best games are console ports?

But would you agree that those games are older and there's nothing right now but kid games? I could definitely understand the whole master race thing when games like Half life were out but I kinda laugh when people say that stuff now.
The whole point of the "master race" argument was that PCs on the higher end will always be more powerful and until recent years much more well-rounded than a console.
There's no real need to think too deeply on it, honestly.

Lol, no. And half of those are RTS. I get it, you like niche PC games.

None of them are real time strategy, save TW series. Even then they have turn based aspects and aren't considered the sort of RTS that was popularized on the PC.

Saying "no" doesn't erase their critical praise and popularity.

Nice to know you think DOTA and LoL are "niche".

You don't have to, my PC is hooked up to my entertainment system in my living room just like any console.
I'm lazy, I just want a box that I push one button and it starts playing.

I sit in front a PC almost 10h a day at work, I can't stand to sit in front of another for entertainment.

I was the same way because I work in IT. The steam came out with big picture mode and I connected my PC to my TV and it's just like a console except with better graphics and I don't have to pay to play online. I got tired of PS+ Xbox live pay BS. I also got tired of paying out the ass for digital games. I shouldn't have to pay a premium cause I don't want to get off the couch to change games it's fucking 2018.

Yep you can setup your PC that way. It's how I have mine.

.

I don't even game online and I like having Xbox live gold. I get 4 free games a month and can catch some sweet discounts on games with their deals with gold specials. I know steam is always running specials too.

I had a laptop that could run most games on max settings back in 2005. I got it before I went on a deployment overseas when I was in the Army. We had all kinds of games that we would share through Keygens. Far Cry, Battlefield, Doom 3, NBA, NHL, etc... and would play them in our quarters between our squad.

I'd imagine that there are ways to do this these days through torrents and VPN's, so I'd assume that Steam must have to hand out a lot of deals just so it keeps things convenient for the PC community.

The free games is cool and I do like that feature but frankly I'd rather just have free online and save backups and I'll pay for games I want with my own money. Frankly the only thing that system has done is force me to try games I would never buy on my own and it's rarely turned out well.

That's all I do man. Got my graphics card HDMI right into my ONKYO receiver. SSD has Windows fired up damn near automatically.

I watched the PC game show and my god it was absolutely awful. Their only good games are games from Xbox or PS4. Can someone explain where this "master race" thing came from?
You clearly don't know what you are talking about.

I'll consider buying a PC when this generation ends. MS made it pretty hard for me to switch because when I bought the Xbox One I already had a lot of games downloaded from Games with Gold with the X360.

Yea I can understand that. I didn't want to leave the MS enviorment either because of my achivements. When they did that whole used game thing though I said fuck off and didn't trust them anymore. Went with PS4 which was great but I lost a lot of saved games because I wasn't paying for PS+ and I forgot saves don't backup automatically without it. I changed my PS4's HD and lost all that shit. So I got pissed and went with PC gaming.

I'm kind of stuck with Xbox too, especially with the XB1 offering backwards compatibility. Between the 360 and the XB1 I probably have between 300-400 games in my digital library. The last gen of games (360,PS3) really hold up well though. I still have my 360 hooked up along with my XB1 as there are a few games I like to play that aren't backwards compatible.

I've been gaming since I got an Atari 2600 for Xmas when I was 5 years old in 1985 and this is this first time I've actually kept the last gen console hooked up along side of my current gen console. I did manage to keep all of my old video games through out the years though. They're in boxes, but can be fun to hook up from time to time.

Not just have a license that can be revoked.

Your perception of downloadable purchased games is warped. For that logic is based around a company on the verge of bankruptcy. When the digital distribution of such content is a superior business model. Why do you think game stores are closing their doors so quickly similar to video rental and music stores experienced?

The only exception to digital distribution are book stores. For readers prefer the hard copy over that of reading off a Kindle/iPad.

I like to own things that I buy. Not just have a license that can be revoked.

A physical copy is mine to do whatever I want with.
This I can agree with. The re-sale market on physical games is still solid. You can't resell a PC game, also nice having a physical copy with the artwork and everything. Only thing I miss going from PS3 to PC.

Just shows how behind the times Console gamers are: https://www.gamasutra.com/view/news..._still_prefer_physical_games_over_digital.php

Now im not sure on the cause for i havent touched a console in 20+ years.

I have a handful of physical games, but most of my library is digital. If I'm up that way I'll usually stop at Gamestop and maybe pick up a couple of bargain games. Like I said earlier I have between 300-400 digital games and maybe about 20-30 physical games between my 360 and XB1.

Xbox also has gamepass which offers another 200 games for $10 a month. If I'm buying a new AAA game I definitely go for the physical copy, because it will hold it's value for a Gamestop trade in. The only reason my digital Library is so big is because It's full of games I got for free or I got suckered into a sale.

Digital is more convenient, but Physical is superior, because you can trade them in. Over the winter my 360 shit the bed so I rounded up some games that I had sitting around that I didn't play anymore and traded them in for a 360 slim for $50. Overall my Library has been mostly digital for the past 4 or 5 years though.

The only thing that’s warped is your idea of ownership. Again, I can do whatever I want with a physical copy of a game. I own it, it’s physically in my hands. Literally the only argument for digital games is that it’s more convenient than swapping out a disc.

It’s great for game companies, not quite as great for a consumer. Limiting what you can and can’t do with their product is always a win.

Humble offers a monthly game bundle for $12. They usually have 1 AAA early access game and then the rest you get the first Friday of the month. I used to subscribe but my back catalog got to big.
