Why Is Donald Cerrone on Such a Sharp Decline?

Cerrone fights nothing but killers he just needs a slight step bck in competition. if he stays at ww give him Mia or at lw i like a fight with Guida.

Just a couple of years ago he went on an eight fight win streak at lightweight then he went 4-0 to start off at Welterweight. Now he's 1-4 in his last five and got handily beaten by Masvidal, Till, and Edwards. He's not that old, only 35. Why is he so bad now compared to what he once was? Do disappointing to watch as a huge fan.

father time is still undefeated.

# pf fights makes a difference. Also, weight class makes a difference. Look at how many guys at 170 and under are doing well vs how many are doing that at the heavier weights. Reaction speed is the first thing you start to lose as you age, and that is a much bigger deal at 155 than it is at 265.

A lot of fans make this huge error where they say "Randy fought past 40" or "DC is almost 40", but those guys are anomalies. for one, they are grapplers and that skill ages better. Secondly they are heavier. Thirdly, genetics. It's rare for a reason and you shouldn't discount age as a factor for any fighter in their 30's.

He fights all the time, he drinks a lot and he does extreme sports. Plus he is small for 170.

Age buddy. When he was younger he could've made 155 easier but now he's fighting bigger guys & he's getting slower every second of the day.

he moved up to ww and keeps fighting very talented fighters. he had a good initial run at ww, but shit catches up to you when you’re not really better than other guys....

war Donald but it’s a tough sport to put runs together...and sometimes you’re on the wrong side of a run...

Tuf noob basement dweller lol

The reason why he loses is because he doesn't win

exactly; you can get by with that stuff in your 20s not in your mid 30s.

Honestly he lasted longer than he should have. I always thought that his constant insistence on taking such short notice fights along with his lifestyle would cost him. It finally caught up.

Seriously? He's been very active for years. Tons of wars, plus he lives like a caveman in his off time. Drinking and partying abd getting in accidents on his ATV where he has to get sections of his intestines removed. It's not shocking all of that has taken a toll on him.

Lots of mileage, beer, not evolving, and bad stylistic match ups.

As much as I enjoyed watching him fight. Cowboy was always a front runner. As soon as the fight got tough he basically folded.. You would think a guy that crazy would have a lot of heart. But he didn’t.

Because he keeps losing..

Nice context retard. Was I calling cerrone an all time great? I call fedor one of the goats.

Another fuckin retard who sees fedor in every fuckin thread. Get your fuckin shine box.

He fights bigger opponents and guys who don't make weight.

Darren Till claimed he was 200 pounds on fight night.

He takes fights on short notice that others would wuss out and run away from.

Can you not see the step up in competition in your pose TS?

Story.. cote.. to Till and Edwards?

Seems like hes just cashing in and doesnt really give much of a fuck anymore. Will take any fight anywhere (which im sure gets him well seen to by the ufc). Is happy to be the guy, potential up n comers can use as a spring board and it seems like hes not bothered at all about rankings/belt ambitions. Id be surprised if he does the same kind of fight prep as he wouldve done a few years ago.

Ummm...because he is 35 years old and that is actually pretty damn old in terms of athletic performance.

MMA fans seem to have a fundamental disconnect when it comes to age and athletics. No other sport is surprised when a 35 year old starts performing way worse
