Why does the CHL Memorial Cup make teams play back to back games?

The CHL is the Canadien Hockey League. It is the highest tier for ammies in Canada. Memorial Cup is their playoffs.

This year Acadie Bathurst, and Hamilton play games the next day with no break in between.

Why is that? Hamilton played today and yesterday.

Every single year, the host team gets the best schedule in terms of days between games. Even though the hosts didn't actually earn their way into the tournament. I've always seen the competition as a bit of a joke because of that.
