Why does nobody talk about Robert Whittaker?

A lot of sherdoggers are butthurt because he got two wins against Romero.

And we all know how much we love big muscle roided sweaty guys on this site

Love his fights but he has only fought once in 16 months. The more you fight, the more people talk about you.
Also, the dude is a gentleman and a humble one at that. Humility doesn't really sell PPV's which I don't care about anyways. I think this sport is more suited to a niche sport. Then they don't have to sell it to the masses and water it down with all the clown shows. Just give me great fights and forget the dog and pony shows. As is being said on this thread, he also is a well-rounded fighter, he doesn't explode all over you and kiss you like Yoel Romero. He is just very effective in everything he does.

This.

His lack of controversy probably helps but also hurts him in a way.

Really? I think far more people respected Whittaker after the second Romero fight than before. Now he's seen as the Woodley of his division and everyone has already written off Gastelum's chances of winning. Anyone who can survive the Cuban Missile twice is a GOAT, no doubt about that.
Respect for sure has gone through the roof with bobby knucklez, but this fight felt just like jones Gus where majority of the forum had the challenger winning. Not a slap to the face on Whittaker’s performance at all though.

It’s pretty clear him and Romero are the best two in the division. It hasn’t been so clean cut like that before.

I mean in general, what is he known for? What is best at?
Being a fucking badass fighter!

<45><45><45>

I get what ya mean though. Maybe the Gastelum fight will show us!

Robert is probably one of the most well rounded MMA fighters today, his rise up the middleweight ranks was incredible to watch.

He understandably took time off after the second Romero fight, in the span of 14 months he fought Jacare, Romero, had an MCL injury to his left leg and by early 2018 had a staph infection in his stomach and fought Romero again then he was used for TUF because that's still a thing. probably have more interest if people still cared about TUF

Yeah Joe Rogan confirmed his belief in this not too long ago. I can't remember it too well but I can remember thinking during the announcement that 1. Robbie did enough to where the decision could have been his, and 2. Yoel missed weight so it wasn't for the belt anyway. Great fight though
Fight of the year so far.

I’m thinking Ortega vs Holloway will top it though!

I feel something is missing for him, I mean he is a fantastic fighter but he just doesn't have that specific quality that other guys had for example Silva's elusiveness, Rockhold GnP. Weidman's wrestling, Romero's explosiveness, etc. when you think about his highlight reel there no a stand out moment on it, he wins fight but just doesn't look unbelievable or a guy that is going to dominate for years.

also the fact he is not very charismatic or interesting doesn't help him but I actually like that

He needs to do some twitter rants or instagram controversial posts to get more attention from fans now.

If he's not gonna trash talk, or develop a highlight real friendly style he should at least post a video of himself jo'in on Pornhub. Apparently the mma community loves that stuff.

Yeah, he's an outstanding fighter. Well-rounded game. He may not have flash or superstar type charisma but he's one of my favorite fighters to watch in the octagon. I enjoy his press conferences & interviews too because he's down to earth, honest, funny. Maybe people don't talk about him as much as more flashy talkers because with Bobby Knuckles we just know we're going to get consistent excellence. A lot of people go for talking points, boasting to egomaniacal levels, and fuckups both in and out of the sport. But everyone seems to respect him and his talents.

I can't think of one Whittaker highlight or press moment that stands out
Jacare ko, Brunson ko, decision war with Romero. Those are highlights for sure.

Definitely checking those two out on fight pass

Cool. You should enjoy them both. One thing I love about mma is that there's room for all different types of personalities and fighting styles.

I can think of two and they both involve getting his hand raised after beating Yoel.

second fight def questionable
i liked how Rob used side kicks and front kicks, tasting Yoel his own medicine
