Why do you all hate Stipe Miocic?

He is a solid guy, a firefighter, the exact opposite of a diva and tries to go for the finish.

Ever since DC eyepoked him into a KO the haters have been present.

Why the hate?
he's cool. Decent guy, good fighter.

I think his lack of ability to articulate his words effectively and complete lack of charisma makes his shit talk and attempts to hype himself / fights a bit off putting to some.

Can't hate on the guy, he's trying to play the game to the best of his ability..he's just not very good at it.

He's a solid fighter and had some impressive performances.

Who hates stipe exactly?

I feel like you should have to link specific threads and posts to make a claim like that. It just seems silly.

Most people generally like stipe. They might not think he deserves an immediate rematch or they might think dc deserves a money fight but I haven't seen anyone hating on him. If anything just the opposite.

So stop being so silly with these "why do y'all hate -insert fighter name here-" threads.

From what I read here, nobody hates Stipe. Yes, some have called him a whiner or whatever because he IS kind of getting screwed out of getting a rematch. That's no reason to hate a man...especially a guy who is a first responder and the winningest HW champ in UFC history.

I think "hate" is a strong word for what you're implying, TS.

Been high on Stipe since he first came around and predicted him to be a future champ.

I like Stipe far more than DC but I have a problem with people discrediting what was an amazing accomplishment by DC (though I would have prefered Stipe won) by claiming he "eyepoked" his way to the win which is simply false.

Both guys exchanged eyepokes in the fight and the finish didn't come till well over a minute after the DC one in which time Stipe showed no ill effects from it such as excessive blinking or eye rubbing and was winning handily including rocking DC right before DC desperately went for the clinch and Stipe got caught with the ill advised hands down exit.

With that said I believe Stipe will get that belt back but I wish in the meantime he would go get another win and rebuild his confidence instead of sitting around stewing on this fight and looking for a rematch that with Brock on the horizon for DC won't be coming anytime soon.

Stipe may be undervalued by lots of people, especially post UFC 226, and many find his current campaign to rematch with DC annoying. But hated? Nah.

I'm not sure you remember the finishing sequence accurately. DC wasn't "rocked" or "desperate" right before the final clinch. The moments before the finishing sequence were the best in the whole fight for DC, he was piecing Stipe up and gaining confidence. He was never rocked in that fight period, actually.

Cause before he lost to DC I thought Stipe was a cool badass, but now he's behaving like a bitchy ex-lover who is pissed off that DC isn't responding to his phone calls? If Stipe wants DC to fight him why don't he offer to fight Cain for free then destroy Cain in round 1 or something?

I maybe mis remembering the exact order of things but DC was definitely rocked shortly before the clinch. He caught a big right behind the ear and rolled over his ankle but recovered quickly and the clinch/ KO came soon after.

Regardless though, the eye poke still played no role in the finish.

Stioe seems like a nice guy and a good fighter. Thats his issue. His fighting doesnt make him stand out as special, nor does his personality make up for it. He seems like a stand up guy and all, just camouflaged in the pack. People that stand out as special or great athletes need something else to put them on the minds of fans.

I never been a fan of fighters ducking fights while begging for a title shot on social media. I wish Stipe was above this but he's just as bad as any of them.

I was ok with Stipe even after he got ktfo by Struve.

But when the ufc started calling him the goat HW I wanted to see him get his glassjaw shattered.

This is the only sequence in the fight I can think of which meets your description.

'"Rocked" would be very optimistic IMO, even stunned might be pushing it given the way DC reacts.
This took place over a minute before the KO sequence, so I don't think the way DC got the KO could be described as a "desperate" response to getting hurt.
If anything, DC's best moments standing came afterwards (look at the time on the bottom).

And the final striking exchange before the clinch which ended the fight:

My point is, the fight was moving DC's way when the clinch happened, it wasn't some kind of lucky shot while being otherwise dominated.

If Stipe won the fight with DC he wouldn't have been fighting any sooner; he stated his desire to have some time off to be with his new (and first) kid beforehand. It's not so much that he's ducking fights, but that he's willing to change his plans for only one thing, and that's the rematch—because time is of the essence there. If DC holds true to his word about retirement, it can't happen after March 2019.

- Fedor fans feeling threatened. That was/is a big part of it.

- He derailed and humiliated the shiny new "A level" athlete that so many sherdoggers were infatuated with and were convinced was the future of the division.

- The whining post DC fight is a bit much. He shat the bed that night and doesn't really deserve an instant rematch imo.

On the firefighter as an occupation thing... I don't put much into it. I know a some IRL and they really don't get up to a whole lot most days other than plenty of smoking and drinking. There is like 1 department per 100 people here and they basically never get calls. They believe it to be a very cushy gig that's for sure.

I was in no way saying that, I was just saying Stipe was doing quite well after the break for the poke and was showing no adverse effects from it.

I believe that first GIF is the exchange I was referring too and having watched it a few times now I admit I may have been wrong. DC seems to take most of the steam off the shots with the possible exception of the last one behind the head but I can't definitely say having seen that his ankle roll was from being hurt or just an awkward step forward that makes it appear as though his balance gave out for a second.

I'm a big fan of Stipe but honestly I was very impressed with and even applauded DC's performance here. All I'm saying is that regardless of who you like better writting this off as "DC cheating his way to a win" is something I can't agree with even though in this case my guy was on the losing end and it would be an easy excuse to latch on too despite being a fallacy.

Ok, I understand. We seem to be largely in agreement then.

I think you’d have to be really unhappy with your own life to find something to hate about Stipe Miocic of all fighters.

Maybe there’s a few squeaky voice guys out there envious of his gravel growl.

Ive never heard of large swaths of ppl hating Miocic.

If anything ppl respect him but are indifferent to him.....and moreso his fans asking “why don’t most ppl like him as much as I do”.

He’s basically like the Chris Weidman of HW. He’s not the most dynamic striker or wrestler, He’s good everywhere but not a specialist anywhere.

As far as personality, he’s cool and down to earth. But he doesn’t have a magnetic personality. That’s cool though. I respect that he doesn’t fake it. I think most ppl do.
