Why do people think a pro boxer would lose in MMA to a striker?

People always give the straw man argument that a boxer has no chance in MMA because of grappling and kicking. Of course a boxer is going to get beat in MMA against someone with grappling or kicking skills, but what if he fought someone like Rampage, who typically only punches?

I think a pro boxer would KO someone like Rampage in an MMA fight. If they had given James Toney (in his prime) someone like Derek Lewis instead of Couture, wouldn't Toney have KOd him? Seem pretty straightforward. What am I missing?
