Why do people in North American drink light beer?

Everyone is behind euro beer not just Aussie.

The American craft beer scene has moved beyond Europeans in a lot of ways. Most of the top rated beers coming out in the world are coming out of the US.

Are you suggesting it's false advertising? Just out of curiosity I looked it up.

let's take Budwiser for example.

I googled the calorie count of their products,

Budweiser- 145
Bud Light- 110
Bud Select (advertised as lighter than light)- 99


The carb count follows a similar decline as the beer gets "lighter"
 
This is just not true. Regular beer has way more flavor the light beer. Light beer is a sacrifice to consume less calories.

Lite beer is watered down

Had a German brewmaster tell me that due to the advent of the micro brewery, the United States produces the best beers in the world. Obviously his opinion but the sheer amount of breweries in the states makes a good case for it.

Yeah when it's hot as fuck outside you want the lightest beer possible.

That makes sense. When I go to the desert I usually drink Coors Light or Bud Light which is only 4.2. Best to not get too dehydrated.

I dunno I'm on my phone but when you Google them the souce is linked directly to Google. Pretty positive it's accurate.

Just Google budweiser calorie count.

Just because they don't list the information on the can doesn't mean it's not available.

No soda product lists the caffeine content either, which can be alarming since alot of people are sensitive to it.
 
Americans are easily fooled by marketing that allows us to make no sacrifices for our better health/thread
 
Most light beers are awful so I couldn’t tell you why.

Basically all of them really short of Cantillion or other Belgian Lambics that maintain high rankings. It's America by miles now.

Looks like you answered your own question but yeah it's cause it has lower calories. Also I don't really get that drunk off it so you can day drink into the night easier with it.
 
Plus the Northeast is turning out amazing beer as well, really every region in the country has amazing beer now. It has grown beyond Europeans and I have a feeling Australian beer is significantly behind the Euros.
yeah other than Belgium I feel like even the Germans are ridiculously far behind the USA. Most European countries produce a fairly limited selection of beers. The U.K. might aight though. They’re really the ones who developed a large % of the ales we enjoy today. I’ve heard that a lot of the styles are kind of dying out right now though- basically the exact opposite of what’s been happening it in America

No soda product lists the caffeine content either, which can be alarming since alot of people are sensitive to it.

Light beer is awful. How many times do you have to take a piss before you even get a buzz? Like 10x... Running to the bathroom all the time. It's basically water.

Regular beer you only have to piss like 3x before you get a buzz.

I drink the cheap off brands like Natural Ice that have 5.8% alcohol. Beer doesn't taste good either way. The light beers are around 4.2% alcohol content. They also cost wayyyyy more than the cheap brands that have more alcohol in them.

Call me poor if you want but I'm just drinking beer smarter I say.

I presume by limited selection you mean styles (the place is flooded with small breweries), but even then i would disagree

Beer shop near my wifes parents sells over 30 beers all made within 100km of Riga.
