Why do Muay Thai stylists that go into Glory refuse to adjust their pace to keep up?

Well Sittichai managed to go in and take a title pretty easily sans the RVR robbery.

Petpanomrung should be FW champ if he wasn't robbed. He handled RVR's combinations no problem.

Who are all these other MT guys that supposedly can't handle combinations?
Yodkhunpon
Thongchai
Etc
It’s known MT guys (traditional ones especially) have weak hands. Guys like Petpanomrung and Sittichai have worked extensively on their boxing in order to be able to hang in Glory.

Yodkhunpon can't hang since he went up in weight, and Thongchai spends more time betting on cockfights then in the gym.

even if they fix everything, they're still thai so they're bad at punching. maybe Ramon Dekkers was a bad teacher?

But Sittichai, Petpanomrung and Kaew still outbox all the top kickboxers. Thais have superior boxing skills than non thai kickboxers

Petpanomrung was competing in amateur boxing tournaments before he even knew what Glory was.

Because they train in boxing, and Thais have good western boxing academy.
The ones who train traditional Muay Thai tho (without cross-training) get beat up.

Oh you mean Yodsanklai, Buakaw, Kaew?

Banchamek Gym is one of the most boxing-intense camps in Thailand and have guys like Superbon train specifically in boxing, hence his success. Buakaw was the same way.

Buakaw introduced his hands a bit later but he was always good, his 04 win is a classic.

What is 'traditional' muay thai anyway? a) punchers have been around in mt for decades b) muay thai has evolved over the years, look at mt from the 70s, very different from what we see now.

Por Pramuk gym where Buakaw comes from wasn't more boxing intense than any other gyms.

Yodsanklai originally comes from petchyindee which has produced some boxers, but it's not like his hands are much better than the other high level petchyindee guys.

Ramon Dekkers was getting ouboxed by these so called weak hands

Don't know about that, they produced multiple boxing world champions.

He was with Sit Kru Od before that.

Kaew has definitely boxed a bit as an amateur. He's trained with the Thai national boxing team on at least one occasion, before he ever kickboxed.

How do you know? How many camps have you been to? Their fighters don't seem to be very active in amateur or professional boxing. Lots of other camps have fighters have had fighters who have done well in boxing, but I don't know of any fighter from Banchamek gym who have.

Moreover, all of Banchamek's best fighters were bought from other camps well after they were already established muay thai fighters or even past their prime. They didn't develop any of them from a young age. Those prior camps have move to do with the success Buakaw, Petchtanong and Superbon have had in kickboxing than Banchamek ever did.

I think Buakaw's boxing has become worse since he left Por Pramuk and got with Banchamek not better.

Buakaw had good hands but you can tell he wasn't training extensively with a boxing trainer in his K-1 days.

I kind of doubt it. Por Pramuk was a boxing gym and Buakaw's main trainer Jude always seemed like he knew what he was doing when it came to boxing.

People seem to vastly underestimate Buakaw's boxing ability in K1 and overestimate that of his contemporaries. He wasn't the best puncher but his upper body movement and distance management were better than anyone in K1 MAX prior to Petrosyan. Watch his fight against Virgil Kalakoda, who was a mediocre pro boxer. Kalakoda might do more punching, but Buakaw is using the more refined boxing specific skills: constantly moving his head by bending at the waist and countering off of his head movement, creating angles on the inside with his shoulders and turning Kalakoda on the inside, which are very boxing specific infighting skills. Kalakoda doesn't land many clean blows at all.
