Why didn't Maia and Wonderboy get as much criticism for their fight with Woodley?

tbh it's a compliment to Woodley in a sense

people think he was good enough to finish either one but wouldn't take even the slightest risk
It's no surprise why he didn't take the risk. The belt is the difference between being paid 80k per fight to being paid 500k. It's a huge raise when you have the belt and for a guy with a family that's a lot of money to risk just to please the fans who don't even like you.

Woodley's game plan in both fights was superb and he got the job done. That's all you can ask of a champ.

I'm one of the seemingly few fans of Woodley here, and even i disagree with that.
The blame goes both ways for a fight. It's the same shit when people called Mayweather a boring boxer as if he was in the ring by himself.
It's up to the challenger to make it an exciting fight.
Wonderboy especially deserves just as much, if not more criticism for his performance because he is the challenger, and his strong suit is supposed to be striking.

Where Tyron gets blame is him asking for money fights and wondering why the UFC doesn’t market him as much while hes having these lackluster fights he's had.
Yer Woodley deserves criticism for his outside antics but not for his performances imo.

So champs are supposed to do this?

I think notori0us1 was saying the opposite.

Basically this. In every Maia thread there are tons of people pointing out how boring he is because of his performances against Silva and specially Woodley, so I really don´t know what TS is talking about either.
I'm talking about Woodley getting the bulk of the criticism. I don't don't they got criticised as well and if you read my post I acknowledged that. I'm qusstioning why Woodley is getting the bulk of the blame.

I criticize Wonderboy pretty much every chance I get. Choke artist.

I agree

I think the blame is being split. Maybe there are just more threads about Woodley than about Maia or Wonderboy because he is champion. And by the way, I don´t necessarily think those fights were boring. They were chess matches between specialists in their area trying to impose their game, and where the stakes were too high for anyone to make a mistake. Not every fight is a Diego Sanchez brawl type of fight or ends up in a finish.

It's funny. He's the champ so you gotta take his throne not the other way around.

I asked Thompson when. He did a Q and A in here for the second fight what would he do different and he said "let my hands go more".

You fucking lied to me Wonderboy... You fucking lied to me.

A big reason why is that he is the more physically gifted guy. People naturally expect the more talented guy (in a prizefight) to dictate the fight. Especially a wrestler too.

"Cause I'm young and I'm black and my hat's real low?
Do I look like a mind reader, sir? I don't know".

Woodley is the champion. That's the only reason anyone talks about him.

Majority of sherdoggers can't remember Woodley before coming champion, because most of those fights sucked too.

Not a lot of people bitched about Dan Hardy doing nothing against GSP; they complained that GSP didn't finish a fighter he clearly outclassed.

It's the same reason why people didn't like the Anderson Silva/Maia fight or the Anderson Silva/Leites fight.

Up until he became champ, Woodley knocked out Koscheck and Dong Kim, and then when he knocked out Lawler people were shocked.
People were expecting Woodley to be a dominant champion, but instead we were given a fighter that fights safe all the time now.

Woodley just isn't likeable so anything he does will be criticize. He's also the one that always claims he deserves money fights yet he his fights are horrible to watch lol
