Why didn’t the ref deduct a point from Caceres for groin shots?

Once is accidental, but 3 times definitely warrants a point deduction imo.

I don’t get why refs are so afraid to deduct points for things like groin shots, eye pokes and fence grabs. The guys are taking advantage of it, and the rules aren’t being enforced. Multiple warnings are useless. If it is deemed accidental, then yes a warning is appropriate, but only one.

There was a ridiculous fight a couple months ago where the guy kept eye-poking and they still wouldn't deduct him. It was ridiculous. During the last eye-poke dumb ref didn't even give a warning, but a pep talk instead. wtf.

Edit: It was Struve vs Volkov. Struve kept eye-poking the guy. If the ref had deducted a point the second time, maybe there wouldn't have been a third. Its supposed to be a deterrent.

Why is Caceres still in the UFC?

A point should have been taken for sure

Struve never fought Volkan. You mean Volkov?

According to Dan Hardy most of the groin hits in that fight were caused by Alex Garcia

Lol I'll never forget the time Caceres was deducted two points for consecutive groin strikes then lost the fight.

Incase a coked out McGregor stormed the octagon

Because shitty ref in a place with no commission will be doubly shitty.

Refs in places with no commission have even less excuse. They follow the UFC's rules. If there actually was a commission and it discouraged point-deducts then the ref has an excuse.

His spinning kicks were sloppy as shit too. Dude needs to drop the kungfu gimmick.

Wouldn't be surprised if he actually showed up drunk, and that's why he keeps missing and hitting fighters' groins. He came to the weigh-ins with the Drunken Master bottle after all.

3rd shot absolutely should've resulted in a point deduction.

Also, why the fuck did one judge give it to him? He got pretty fucked up over and over in that fight. It wasn't really close. And if a point had been taken, it would've been even more one-sided.

And if they're in a place with no commission, then a shitty ref can be shitty without fear of repercussions.

Commissions don't care about shitty reffing. That makes them look bad for sanctioning a shitty ref, so no repercussions or admission of fault.

This is the real question.

That dude is almost as shitty as Theodorou.

Win or lose Caceres is almost always in decent/fun fights. Not got the best ability but is usually a good watch. Theodorou's fights however are a disgrace to MMA.
