Can someone explain the basics for me please? Asking this in response to the latest Jon Jones fiasco.

If you're talking about mexican supplements -> because others are using too.

If you're talking about actual supplements (whey, bcaa, creatine,..), they don't give any real benefit other then convenience.

Apparently he got caught for an oral or tren. Wich is stupid. Tren or orals have like zero benefit for a fighter if taken right before comp. Tren takes like a week or 3 too work. Would be something else if it was halo or cheque drops.

A lot of the time it's for convenience/infeasible to ingest the amount of "real" food for it to be beneficial.

They do, but Supplement company sponsorship helps add to their income.

  5. Aside from the obvious advantage in competition, id say the main reason is recovery.

Mma is incredibly hard on the body, they are training at a very high frequency with not a lot of recovery time. Anything that speeds up the recovery window instantly improves a fighters quality of life.

Because supplements are a cover for PEDs.
