I love hip hop from 91-96....
One sound in particular was that sample heavy, dark, funky beat style made popular by the Soul Assassins (DJ Muggz).....
One group that was actually pretty good but didn't get much of a chance was the Whooliganz. James Caan's son, Scott, was the other half of the group.
Lyrically they're not all that bad for being as young as they were. Beats are pretty good too.
I'm wondering how much money from James Caan paved the way for them:
