Just noticed this on the previous page, but it looks like the first hiccup has occurred, as the opening round was originally scheduled for June. See below:
Opening round scheduled for June. Internationals trials and round two of China trials for April.
It hasn't been announced, but it's a good possibility they already have them filled.
It looks like the select screen for a fighting game.
Ha. It does. Pretty interesting.
1-Joe Duffy
2-Al Iaquinta (if he ends his contract with the UFC)
3-Norman Parke (Looks like he has a contract with KSW, but if he can i could be a solid addition)
4-Lucas "Mineiro" Martins (FW)
5-Melvin Guillard ( already past his prime IMO but could be fun)
6-Alexander Sarnavsky
7-Dave Jansen (ended his Bellator deal in 2016 and since then didint fought again)
8-Shinya Aoki
9-Eduard Vartanyan
Nice list. However, it looks like it will be decided by a fight after all, between a YouTube sensation, and a self admitted Keyboard Warrior:
So just looking at the list of entrants so far, not considering the tournament, what chance do you give each entrant against current champ Kown A Sol?
Of the Koreans, Kim admits he would have trouble against the Kown of today, vs the Kwon back when he was a more active fighter. Park I think would have to outwrestle him, but does he have the size/strength to do it?
Of the Russians, I could see Khabib's cousin trying to smother his way to victory. Agaev could be an interesting striking battle.
Of the Brazilians, Tom Santos is still a mystery. Torres would be an interesting fight. Toninho Furia, I have to watch more fights on.
Of the Mongolians, I'm unsure of Amartuvshin. This is the highest level he's fought at. Same for Nadin-Erdine, but I think either he or Kown are all but guaranteed to get knocked out.
Barbour we know can crack, but I'm not sure if his win over Ki showed a reluctance to strike against someone who hits hard, or superior fight IQ by taking it to the ground. I'm kind of leaning towards the latter.
Romero, I don't see it.of my lone fellow American, I don't see Kuntz beating Kwon, but that would be cool, for the crossover/Kyopo effect.
Lastly, mthe Japanese. Hard to tell with Shinji, because his last fight with Kwon didn't last long. However, Kwon would definitely go in there with the advantage of knowing he's already beaten Shinji. Shimoishi, I need to watch some more tape on him.
What say you guys?
Overall, this continues to shape up to be a really interesting tournament. Other than the scheduling setback, I hope everything else goes well with it.
