Along with Metamoris, Copa Podio do Jiu-jitsu is a huge step forward for BJJ and very much worth supporting. The fact is there are few options for athletes in Jiu-jitsu to earn a living for the sacrifices and hard work, aside from teaching (which is great on breaks or after retiring from competition) or shifting into MMA.

I believe in supporting Arte Suave and athletes of today entirely, how do you feel about paying to watch professional Jiu-jitsu bouts?

i wouldn't mind paying for a well organized, submission only event.

Watched and paid. Like the commentary by you and Victor Estima. I think the heavyweight grand prix was better for some reason though. Leandro Lo is the man. Hopefully next time Michael Langhi doesn't pull out and maybe get Lucas Lepri to do it as well.

they need a better way to buy this.

last year it was a debacle and i missed the last 30 mins because it would not let me log back in after it disconnected (but i did pay for it and they were supposed to refund everyone and i was not refunded).

then this year i bought it at 4. was supposed to start at 4:30. i could not log watch it until 5 so i missed terere and half of braulio.
i was logging in with my account, then it said my account did not exist, then i went to the page and i could watch it (not sure what account as when i went to my profile is said i was jamal someone and i am not jamal someone)

so, if they are going to charge they need to get their heads out of their ..... and get a better stream provider or whatever. plus no HD. for $21 and no HD?

Glad to hear it! Thanks, I have a long way to go and a lot to learn as a commentator but really enjoy being there.

For the next GP it would be great to see Ricardo Liborio black belt, Eduardo "Teta" Rio's from Frontlline in Norway. [IMG]

Yes, Copa Podio is the same event as that Keenan wa in three months ago.

That is unfortunate about the transmission not coming through properly to everyone. I know the event is working to contract the best possible provider for live streaming. Last event was an improvement with the streaming over the previous.

    Nice one!

Drives me nuts to see people drop $200.00 on a kimono to sweat in while training without blinking an eye, then complain endlessly about paying to watch the best athletes in the World on PPV.

Yeah even if the event ends up not being that good/boring fights etc, $20 to support something like that is much more worth it to me than most other things.

Copa Podio probably didn't pay to license the theme song to the walking dead that they've used for intro's on there youtube channel. ;)

Didnt get to see it, hope theres a DVD i'd pay up for.

Got me on that one... No idea if it was but the promoter is pretty thorough.

DVDs of the events would be great.

    I paid for the event
people who bought the heavyweight one cold actually get 50% discount
The only one who was not happy with me seeing it was my boss, as I fell asleep without alarm and turned up late lol

I paid for both and very much enjoyed both. Even though the technical issues in the first one were very frustrating, there were still a lot of great moments that came through.

However, I was charged full price for the second one. I logged in with the same user name, and expected the discount; however, it wasn't clear how to get the discount.

I hope more of these are done in the future, they are awesome. I also think $20 is a fair price.

I paid for both. And I got a refund for Copa Podio because they fucked up the billing and authorization and I couldn't watch anything.

I paid to watch the heavyweight tournament, the stream was crap and I got my money back. So for this tournament I sent an e-mail and asked if they were better prepared and they informed me that they were, in fact he whole structure of the streaming service had been improved. So I decided to give 'em one mo' chance.

It was still crap and I got my money back.

Glad to hear you where able to watch the shows. What did your boss have to say about you being late for watching Jiu-jitsu?

    --

segfault - Nice one for supporting both the shows, even with the technical difficulties in the first.

    --

SuperSupreRambo - No good you couldn't watch, some great match ups in both! At least you got refund for not being able to get the stream.

    --

IllWil - Define "crap"; was the stream slow, poor quality definition, etc.?
