Cain or Werdum too hard to say for me. Cain had most potential Werdum most skilled. But I'd put a Prime Cain to beat everyone. Results matter though so Werdum has the best and beat Cain.

This thread makes me wonder how a fight go between
    The Couture that fought Sylvia
    The Werdum that fought Fedor

Overeem has the better wins based on the head to head fights between the fighters, that's why it matters.

And Werdum and JDS both finished Cain while Overeem beat both. They both lost to fighters the other fighter beat.

Overeem has been fighting and losing to the current champ and current title challenger, while beating other top guys in the division while Cain is 1-1 in the last 4 1/2 years with his only win over Travis Browne, whose currently on a 4 fight losing streak.

I'm sure Cain would only have 2 losses if he actively fought and actually fought someone other than JDS and Bigfoot

They've all been pretty terrible imo..

Werdum had a great run but displaying some soccer mum boxing against Stipe. I always felt he had major holes that wouldn't see him lasting long as a champ.
Cain having constant injuries and rematches.
JDS was looking like a destroyer has taken some severe beatings lately.
Stipe has had the most solid run out of any UFC HW, however over aging competition.
    Sylvia was fairly boring.
Randy inconsistent and constantly jumping weight classes.
    Brock had special treatment.

They're all in pretty similar spots really, not like one of them stands out thoroughly like Fedor did compared to his Pride competition. I think I'd give it to Cain, on his best day he probably beats them all maybe even Fedor. Had a decent number of title defenses and managed to win the title twice.

I think Prime Cain turns everyone's faces on that list into smashed Hamburger. Too bad his Prime was so short....

If Stipe beats Francis, he has a case.
If he fights and beats Cain somewhere down the line, he is the UFC HW GOAT in my book.

Overall Fedor is still #1 tho.

You should do a poll and see how 90% of Sherdog disagrees with you.

Cain is ahead in literally every single category.

I don't care about other sherdoggers opinions.

    But it's pretty obvious...

    JDS=JDS
    Lesnar=Lesnar
    Mir>Big Nog
    Hunt>Bigfoot
    Arlovski>Browne
    Nelson>Kongo

    Overeem's wins>Cain's wins

Who cares if Hunt could beat Bigfoot..... Overeem couldn't.

Who cares if Arlovski could beat Browne.... Overeem couldn't either.

Cain's opponents were on average higher ranked and had more successful win/loss records.

He's literally ahead in every category except your retarded version of MMAmath.

Overeem fought and beat better fighters than Cain. How much longer will he live off just the JDS wins? His resume is weak, he's at best #5, still behind Overeem

Yeah, that's cool and all... but Cain actually has more top 10 wins, more top 5 wins, a better championship record, has fought opponents with better winning percentages and has been more successful doing it.

Meanwhile, Overeem has been knocked out by non-top 5 opponents a bunch of times and chokes in most of his big matches.

We get it, Cain beat 3 guys.

Those guys are irrelevant now and so is Cain. Let me know when he fights again.

    Oh, so Browne doesn't count?

He should. He knocked out Overeem.

    Rothwell doesn't count?

He should. He knocked out Overeem.

    Nogueira isn't a good win?

cain is #1 since he beat lesnar and jds 2x alone. jds in his prime was probably the 2nd most skilled heavy in ufc history just behind cain and cain put some fedor esque beatdowns on him like fedor beat down nog in pride.

Browne and Rothwell were at completely different points in their careers when they fought Cain and Overeem.

And Nogieira was simply a name, he was far from being a good fighter at that point.

But you keep living in the past with Cain's career. Maybe he'll come back healthy and we'll finally get that highly anticipated Cain/Bigfoot 3 matchup...

Oh, so we're not counting wins unless they were in their prime.

In that case, take off Frank Mir, Roy Nelson, JDS, Arlovski and Hunt off of Overeem's resume. None of them were in their primes either.

I guess Overeem has a win over Struve and Werdum and has lost to Bigfoot, Browne, Ngannou, Rothwell and Stipe. Not very impressive at all.

Imo Cain is the best HW ever if not the best fighter ever. However he cant be crowned as such becouse of his injuries.
