It's actually very debatable... in fact most people would probably disagree.

Cain beat JDS x 2, Brock Lesnar, Bigfoot x2, Noguiera, Browne, Kongo, and Rothwell.

Overeem beat JDS, Werdum, Lesnar, Roy Nelson, Hunt, Mir, Arlovski and Struve.

The only difference really is that Overeem "beat" Werdum and Cain didn't. But then again, Cain beat Bigfoot, Browne and Rothwell whereas all three of them knocked Overeem senseless.

Agreed. I think has the better one. I also think his 2 wins over JDS are better than any of Alistair's.

It's close but for the reason you mentioned at the end + winning/defending the belt, should be in Cain's favor.

    None of those are facts.

Overeem was the reigning Strikeforce HW champ. He had just defended his title against Brett Rogers. He called out Fedor.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/fansid...stair-overeem-fedor-declined-fight-twice/amp/

A little over 2 MONTHS LATER Fedor fought Werdum in July.
Coker let Fedor choose his opponent and he chose Werdum. Remember this was still when Fedor was looked at as the untouchable MMA God. Why would Coker want him to fight a guy that was 2 fights passed getting booted out the UFC in devastating fashion by a then relatively unknown JDS?

Overeem didn't fail any drug tests in Strikeforce. (Or Barnett for that matter) So why even bring it up? It's a non factor.

People just didn't want to fight him.

For someone who claims to be knowledgeable you're kind of dumb. Once again you're trying to state you opinions as facts.

I've been watching MMA religiously since 06 BTW. And nothing I've said can be disputed because it's all facts.

Difference between me and you is I don't have to like a fighter to admit he's good.

I don't understand these morons that call try and call Overeem the GOAT.

He's been fighting for 17 years and has literally not been ranked #1 ever. Ever. But yeah... he's the GOAT apparently.

Why are quoting Alistair Overeem himself?

According to him he beat Stipe via submission.

Scott Coker is the one that makes the matches:

“[Fedor] and Alistair Overeem should be an amazing fight, and people that haven’t seen Alistair, you know, he’s an amazing fighter,” explained Coker during the conversation with the guys (and gal) from TapouT Radio. “I think we should do a couple of fights and build that one up, and then let their champion fight our champion, and let’s see what happens.

“We’re hoping that Alistair will be ready to fight in the Fall, and we can put him on one of the cards with Fedor, and not fight against each other but fight against someone else, and let’s build that fight up”

And pretty much everyone on Overeem's win list has beaten Cain's win list. That's why he has the better resume and fought the tougher opponents.

I favor Couture, based on heart alone. Not the most dominant champ obviously, that would be Cain no??? But his "prime" was very fickle and short-lived.

Combined records of Cain's top wins: 164-29 (85% win ratio)

Combined records of Overeems top wins: 136-54 (71% win ratio)

Cain - 4-2 in title fights
Overeem - 0-1 in title fights

    Fights Against Top 3 Opponents
    Cain - 5
    Overeem -4

    Losses to Non-Top 3 Opponents:
    Cain - 0
    Overeem - 4

    Ufc Titles:
    Cain - 2
    Overeem - 0

    UFC title defenses:
    Cain - 2
    Overeem - 0

    So nope... you're wrong.

At this moment I feel it should be:
    1. Werdum
    2. Cain
    3. Stipe
    4. Overeem
    5. JDS

Werdum just has so many high ranked wins, same with Reem although he never was a champ. If Stipe beat Ngannou he's overtakes Cain, and possibly Werdum, but a Werdum rematch might be necessary to solifiy Stipe as the HW Goat.

I feel Stipe needs to fight Werdum in a rematch and Cain. If he beats those 2 there can be no doubt, and then he might be up there with Fedor. But 3 wins in a row against top-ranked heavyweights, thats a big, big if.

You can do that all you want. Doesn't change the fact that most of Overeem's wins have fought and finished Cain's wins.

Cain's beaten 3 fighters in the last 7 years. Three... Beating Lesnar, Big Nog, Kongo, and Rothwell before that don't make you #1, sorry

What does Overeem's wins beating Cain's wins matter?

Your MMAmath is ignoring the fact that Overeem himself couldn't beat Cain's wins. Browne, Rothwell and Bigfoot all knocked him fucking senseless.

Cain is literally better in every single category.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to say Oveeem won that fight.

He was outstruck in every single round and almost finished in the third.

Fedor and Couture top my list.

Velasquez and Miocic are still competing so their ceiling has no roof, that verdict will have to wait until after they retire.
