Who are the toughest fighters you have seen in MMA in your time as fan?

Diego Sanchez

In his prime, he was pretty much indestructible

diaz-brothers-kids.jpg

Cro Cop

How he's still motivated to fight after all his setbacks is inspiring

He's on some long win streak too

First round Conor

Tony el cucuy

I agree Tony is legit tough when it comes down to toughness but I disagree with lawler, Big nog and some of the others mentioned here. It's about how much you can take and keep going this is the true essence of toughness and in that aspect they fall short imo

Tony el cucuy

Tony is similar to the Diaz brothers, in body-type, in stamina, and in style.

Better, by far, than Nate Diaz ... but not as good (or as tough) as Nick Diaz.

Tony has never faced the HOF fighters Nick Diaz has faced (Penn, Shamrock, GSP, Silva), and he's been knocked down multiple times and been submitted once.

whittaker showed some incredible grittiness in his fights with romero

The crippler, Chris Leben

Had like a pumpkin, and after you cracked him with everything you had he just sort of went into zombie mode and started swinging bombs. Also had dynamite in his fists

Won far more fights than he should have out of pure toughness

There is no way in hell Lawler can even endure 20% of the punishment the Diaz bros can
Based on what exactly?

Maybe Nick has a better chin, but who knows, he doesn't fight.

Based on watching there fights. If lawler gets stormed and swormed like Nick he won't make it out. Nick can just take way way more then Lawler this is a fact.

If you storm Lawler after he gets rocked and you keep him on the back of the fence the chance that he survives is max 50-50 where as with Nick is 100% he will come out of it and even stronger because the opponent has used alot of energy

All of the long reigning champs were / are fuckin tough- they have to be. Aldo, anderson, cruz etc etc.

I didn’t get to see many of them but anyone who competed in the old school tournaments are probably the toughest

Having to fight multiple times in one night is some epic badassery

Competition and skill level might not be as good as it is now but that’s gotta be one of the toughest things to do in sports

And for pennies!
For most of them it wasn't even their job. It was literal sport, something to do on the side for fun and competition.
