Hearns could probably be included. Marquez probably deserves inclusion. Morales and Barrera are maybes, perhaps just a step down. Maybe Finito Lopez.

Yup, Hearns, Marquez and Julio Cesar Chavez need to be on that list and Mike Tyson needs to be higher. He's the youngest fucking Heavyweight Champion in History.

Put 20yr old Iron Mike in ANY Heavyweight era and he rolls, cleans out the division, unifies all titles, gets the lineal moniker and comfortably sits at #1 p4p.

Until Ali steps in the ring, then it gets interesting.
But Mike Tyson is disrespected too often around here.

If you put in the condition that the fighter had to debut no earlier than 1980, I'd have it:

    Mayweather
    Pacquiao
    Whitaker
    Chavez
    Holyfield
    Jones
    Hopkins
    Lewis
    Marquez
    Tyson
    Morales
    Barrera

    Something like that.

If we are talking absolute "peak" there are a lot of great fighters who make the list. I'd take Roy Jones Jr. as the #1 though.

Tysons peak was actually pretty short. He lost to 2 of the 3 elite fighters he faced only beating Spinks. ... getting lit up by both Evander and Lennox.

No way does he deserve higher than Evander when Evander destroyed him.

Evander and Lennox didnt fight 20yr old Mike Tyson (Spinks did though). He fought them 14 years and a prison term later.

How many of you guys actually watched Mike Tyson live at his peak from 1986-1989? And for you guys that werent born yet have you ever done more than just watch Tyson KO highlights?
All you guys know is Buster beat him, Holyfield beat him in the 11th with a TKO 10 gears after his prime and Lennox KOd him when he was 35yrs old.

Since holyfield beat him in 96 ..... Tysons Prime ended I'm 86? I knew it was short not that short....... Tyson was right around 30 when he fought Holyfield....... hardly old. He got his ass handed to him and be a use he has an iron chin he got beat on like a punching bag until he finally gave out.

Evander did NOT beat some old Mike Tyson he beat a Prime years Tyson who was on his 3rd fight after getting out prison and demolished those 2 others.

Face it ....... Evander was just a better fighter.

A legend losing to another legend, I have no problem with that. But again, I said 20yr old Tyson. You wanna add 9-10yrs and say but he lost to so an so, thats on you. But thats not the guy Im talking about. The thread refers to peak and Ill take '87 Tyson over '96 Tyson any day.
