Trump knew about it, 100%. There is no way that he didn't. This was his personal staff secretary. Every paper that came to Trump, this fuckwit touched. He did so without any security clearance. Trump knew why he didn't have security clearance, and so did Kelly - They just chose to look the other way and try to bury it to try and have a functioning office.

It is a clear Dereliction of Duty to put classified information into the hands of a person with no security clearance who is obviously unfit for their job and subject to blackmail.

I can only assume Trump, Kelly, or both thought they could deflect blame to the FBI and Wray would cover for them.
