If we analyzed historical comps data, I'm guessing most winners wouldn't be UHW, but more likely SHW. Lots of HW winners too, and only occasional winners from lighter weight classes.

What do you think?

I have no stats at hand. But I’d have to think it’s heavyweight because Buchecha, Jacare and Roger Gracie all dominated the absolute division at one time or another.

Just looking at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Jiu-Jitsu_Championship

Jacare competed at Middle Heavy (-88kg) winning the Absolute twice. Xande and Rodolfo Vieria were Heavy (-94kg) when they won it twice and once respectively.

Buchecha, Roger dominant runs + Bernardo Faria means that ultra or super heavy's have won it the majority of times. The early days also being dominated by heavier weights. With Buchecha and some of Rogers win being at UHW.

To have a half decent change these days, you have to be middle heavy and up
