Which CITY has the BEST and MOST PLENTIFUL restaurants?

Everyone knows Michelin is biased as fucking shit though. Japan having the most stars is silly.
Anthony Bourdain agrees that Japan has the best restaurants, and who am I to argue with him?

nope, Tokyo leads the world by a wide margin in Michelin stars. Kyoto is second and Paris is third.
As far as 3-star totals, Japan and France are at the top, with America far behind.

As far as cities in America- SF now leads the nation in 3 star restaurants with a total of SEVEN. NYC only has five. However, it has more total stars:

Still a sad showing when you consider NYC's population is larger than SF's by an order of magnitude.

That's why I said NYC was one of the best on earth. Which it is. Everyone knows that.

Secondly I'm not only looking at Michelin rated restaurants. Nyc is super diverse food wise.

I'm not denying NYC is a great food city, but people take that reputation for granted nowadays. While everyone assumes its got the best food, SF snatched its crown as the best culinary city in America. Chicago and Vegas are creepin up right behind it.

SF is a great food city as well. I think vegas is over commercialized for the most part

it is, but money talks and these casinos can afford the best talent.

Half those chefs don't even cook in their restaurants in vegas tho. They're prob not there 90% of the time. Their names are used. Like you said "big money."

It's NYC and it's not even close

In the US the best ratio of town/city size to quality restaurants I'v found is actually Jackson Hole near Grand Tenton national park. Granted not ultra high end stuff but decent diversity and surprisingly good quality beyond just "pile em high".

Honestly in terms of pure quality my guess might well be London but you obviously pay heavily for the good stuff rather than the cheap tourist stuff.

Best quality relative to price for me would probably be Saigon/Ho Chi min City, your can eat like a king there for a few dollars if you go to the right places(cue dog joke).

The view overlooking the Pacific Ocean is magnificent. @IIIIIIII

yeah, it really is. especially during this time of year when it's crystal-clear blue skies. albeit cold for us (early-forties in the mornings, yeah, we're spoiled lol).

NYC metro because we are possibly the most diverse place on the planet Earth, and there is not much else for a poor immigrant slob to do but work in, and open some kind of eating establishment whether it by high class, cheap/low class, brick and mortar, or street cart.

Its either that, or laundry, taxi/limo/uber driver, handy man/day laborer/cleaning (for ladies), or open a bodega which is basically an eating establishment.

You probably are most diverse

NYC, Toronto, London.

Big diverse cities basically.

San Francisco is by far the most restaurant dense city in the US.

Michelin is garbage. I've been to Hong Kong's michelin star dim sum restaurant and it was completely average and forgettable. I don't know how the hell they win these awards.

hahahahaha hope you are being sarcastic

I'm going to assume that this city is in the US. Prove me wrong.

Which city has the best and most plentiful restaurants?

I may be biased since I live here, but my vote goes to Las Vegas. A lot of international culinary talent reside here and we have food from every single culture you can think of.

NYC is the best in America, both for upper level quality and the variety of options. San Francisco has great quality, but it's dwarfed in terms of options when compared with NYC, same with Chicago. New Orleans has great regional food, so it's a nice dining destination, but it's small and without the same level of variety as you'll find in larger cities.

Paris is probably a little better, but too many French people.
